Minister’s Minute

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I hope you are doing well bodily, mentally, and most important spiritually. We are now embarking on a modified phase one reopening as we move from “Stay at Home” to “Better at Home” during this epidemic. Home is definitely better for now and I do not know when we will be able to gather together again. The size of the fraternity and the size of the Youth Room do not meet necessary safety measures. But with the warmer weather hopefully becoming more consistent I hope we can meet at an outdoor location soon.

Like many organizations/businesses, our National Council has sent out a “Guide for Fraternal Life During Social Distancing.” The council will be discussing this at our next council meeting on May 22.

I need feedback now from you. I know my parish is doing many activities in addition to streaming the Mass. Are your parishes doing the same or would you like the fraternity to host an online rosary or the 14 Stations of the Resurrection? An online presentation really only works with one person talking at a time, so if we held an online activity speaking parts would be assigned to people.

Online discussion groups can also be done on Zoom; however, groups should be small … perhaps area groups. I think a discussion group with 20 people might be awkward. Or are you being inundated with activities from your parish? Please let me know what you feel/think at jd6bouv@verizon.net. And let me know what you think of the new Porter format that Chris has developed.

In all the poor,” Bonaventure wrote, “Francis saw before him a portrait of Christ” even animals represented Christ to him. Seeing the birth of a lamb, for example, Francis exclaimed, “Alas, brother lamb, innocent animal, always displaying Christ to people!”

5th Anniversary of Laudato Si’

“The earth is the LORD’s and all it holds, the world and those who dwell in it.” Psalm 24-1 ▫️ for “the earth and its fullness are the LORD’s.” Corinthians 10: 26
