Auvergne Autumn Photography tour

After a successful first, again in 2017

Guided by local photographer Kristel Schneider (who lives in the Auvergne since 2007) in cooperation with tour operator Nordic Visions photo-tours. After a successful and fully booked first autumn edition Kristel decided to organize the tour again in 2017.

Date: October 15 – 22, 2017

During the 8 days we will explore the Sancy area, located in the regional volcano park and the heart of the second regional nature park, the Livradois Forez. You will discover Auvergnes most beautiful valleys and get some fresh sparks at the many local waterfalls and some volcano lakes.

We will spend 3 nights in Chambon sur Dolore in the Natural Regional Parc Livradois Forez, and 4 nights in Saint Nectaire, located in the Natural Regional Volcano Park, where we will welcome you warmly and make you feel at home.

The program includes a mixture of active and more relaxed parts, from small walks in nature, hilltops and waterfalls to car-drives to beautiful locations.

Located in the very heart of France, Auvergne (part of Auvergne Rhône Alpe) is in the centre of the Massif Central area. The region has four departments, Allier, Puy de Dôme, Cantal and Haute Loire. Auvergne is a unique area and displays its own personality and beauty of nature in each and every part. Auvergne is an untouched region of mountains, volcanoes and rocky gorges, with Clermont-Ferrand as the capital city. It is a popular holiday destination from the French and not yet discovered by mass tourism. This makes this region pure in all essence.

Photographer Kristel Schneider will guide you through the wonderful Auvergne. She has lived in Puy de Dôme – Auvergne since end 2007 and knows the area very well, via photo-assignments from the Regional Nature Park- Livradois Forez/local tourist boards and of course her private outings. She will show you the most beautiful spots, including her personal favorites.

Dolomite (Spring)- Italy - photography tour

New in 2017

Guided by photographer Kristel Schneider (who spend all her childhood holidays in this area) in cooperation with tour operator Nordic Visions photo-tours.

Date: June 10-17 2017

This photo-tour will focus mainly on the heart of the Italian Alps. In Spring everything is full with fresh colors and strives with new life. It is the time when the Dolomites awaken from the cold winter months. The steep rocky peaks will undo their white blankets of snow. Then pure natural colors, rough and graphical textures will visually materailise. For us, photographers, this season offers countless opportunities to try out a wide variety of nature photography shots: long valleys and rugged ridge-lines, turquoise color lakes, various wild flowers, as well as the Dolomites mountain tops in all kinds of photogenic shapes.

The Dolomites comprises a mountain range in the northern Italian Alps, numbering 18 peaks which rise to above 3,000 metres and cover 141,903 ha. It features some of the most beautiful mountain landscapes anywhere, with vertical walls, sheer cliffs and a high density of narrow, deep and long valleys.

What to expect during this 8-day photography tour: we will visit several Nature Parks, like t he Ampezzo Dolomites, the Fanes -Sennes -Brais, the Sesto/Tre Cime Dolomites. We will look at how the sunlight plays on the mesmerising mountain ranges and see mist disappear in the valleys and over the peaks. You will discover one of Italy’s most beautiful mountain lakes. There will be plenty of opportunities to focus on close-ups, macro and other Spring subjects: flowering mosses, Alpine Snowbell, Gentiane, the rare Lady's slipper orchid and many other wild flowers.

I have changed my thinking and usage from semi automated analog way of working to manual digital by using all the options I have available. Thanks Kristel for your clear explanations. About Kristel

If I had to introduce myself briefly I would say that I am a photographer and a workshop instructor who has specialized in nature and landscape photography. But that would just convey the visible part of my personal iceberg, as you can see it now.

Before I could show that present portrait of mine, many little drops of life have filled in a vase that is not yet totally full. I was born in The Netherlands and lived a big part of my adult life in Amsterdam. I studied Human Resource Management and Communication and I worked the last 6 years of my other professional career as a Communication Adviser for a Pharmaceutical Company.

Everything changed in 2007 when I decided to move to Auvergne, in France and focus on my passion, photography.

To tick off some boxes, I’m not a technical person above all. I’m more interested in feelings and emotions. Photography is more than just a passion; it’s a way of living and the best way to express myself more creatively. I work with an eye for detail to give birth to intimate compositions so that people can also play a part when they look at it.

Over the years I have carried out private commissions, photo assignments. You can also find my work in many magazines and other publications or in stock agencies like Naturimages and Nature in Stock. Parallel to this I am also collaborating with Nordic Vision Phototours.
