Here is a quick reminder of what to do during our evacuation drill:

  • Once you get to the field house, Students will find their 4th period class and line up with their 4th period teacher immediately on the track and stay with the class.

quarantine art competition

DO YOU HAVE A TALENT FOR DRAWING, PAINTING, OR SKETCHING?

Enter the Kamiak Quarantine Art Competition with your best submissions and show off your artwork. We’re looking to capture the overwhelming experience of living through a global pandemic while completing high school from your bedroom or couch. This year has been full of ups and downs, struggles and triumphs, and we want you to capture that through whatever art suits you best. Drawings, paintings, or photos of sculptures, installations and other visual media are all accepted. All submissions should be turned in by Friday, May 21st.

ELPA21 Annual Assessment

Every year we administer the ELPA 21 in Washington state public schools. This year we will administer the ELPA 21 to all active in-person ELL students at Kamiak. The exam will be administered in the classroom with the ELL teacher and in pull-out groups with a proctor beginning May 3rd, 2021.

What is the ELPA 21?

The ELPA21 annual assessment is an online assessment given to all students who are eligible for English language development (ELD) services. The ELPA21 annual assessment measures students’ English language proficiency, both knowledge and skills, in four language domains (reading, listening, writing, and speaking). Students can score between a level 1 and level 5 in each of these language domains. Students who score at a level 4 and/or 5 in all of the domains on the annual ELPA21 assessment will transition out of ELD services.

  • When: Testing Window: May 3rd-21st
  • Approximate amount of time for in-test instructions: Time for instructions may vary by domain and grade level. Test administrators can plan for 5 minutes of in-test instructions at the beginning of each domain test, or 20 minutes of instructions for all four of the domains.
  • Number of domains that can be administered in a single session: All domains can be administered in a single session.
  • Maximum number of days over which a student can test: There is no maximum number of days over which a student can test, as long as all four domains of the field test are completed during the testing window. Domains can be administered in separate sessions during the same day, or on different days entirely.

Students attend KAP virtually where they can get help prioritizing, completing, and submitting work. Students who feel like they would benefit from this resource should talk with their teachers.

  • KAP Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday at 2PM.
  • KAP Advisors: Ms. Skowyra & Mrs. Becker.

AP UPDATES

Students will begin taking digital AP® Exams in less than a month. The 2021 digital AP Exams may only be taken on personal or school-provided Windows and Mac desktop and laptop computers, and on school-managed Chromebooks, but not personal Chromebooks.

There is an important update about the AP Exams. Students must complete an exam setup step 1–3 days before each exam they take. This step loads their exam onto the computer they're going to test with. The process was designed to allow time for students to ensure their testing device is set up properly for test day—and, if students discover any issues with their technology, it also allows time to replace their testing device with one that works. It also mitigates the risk of inconsistent and/or inadequate internet connectivity during exam setup, which could prevent the AP Exam from loading successfully into the digital testing application.

In order for students to be able to take the AP exam digitally at-home we need students to download the App (software) needed for the exam. students using your own laptop/computer please install the App by clicking here.

Students who have a school issued Chromebooks do not need to download the App since our school district has already downloaded the App for students. Students shouldn’t share devices for testing. Students should use the same device for exam setup through the conclusion of their digital exams. After the conclusion of each exam, students will be able to confirm their successful exam submission in the digital testing application. Their exam status will also show as "submission complete" in the dashboard for AP coordinators.

For daily tutorials, please visit:

  • Recordings of each session will be available on YouTube and AP Classroom for students to watch on-demand if they can't join live.
  • Students can also continue to access AP Daily videos to help them learn and review course content and skills across all the units in their AP course. Sign in to AP Classroom to watch these videos anytime, anywhere.

AP REGISTRATION INFO

For any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our AP coordinator for 2020-2021, Dr. Rosa Cabrera, Assistant Principal. You can call (425) 366-5421 or email CabreraThompsonRM@mukilteo.wednet.edu.

Important message about Prom 2021:

Many factors impacted our ability to pull off a prom this year. The most current and driving factor is the Covid-19 case counts in Snohomish County. With numbers high the last three weeks, and Snohomish County being on the verge of retraction to Phase 2, we were unable to make commitments with possible vendors. Additionally, our Senior Prom survey results indicate that only a small portion of students are interested in a Prom that would 1) have to be at the school (no venues are renting for Proms this year in our area) and 2) require strict adherence to social distancing guidance. What we are excited about are the events we CAN pull off, which are Senior Breakfast and Farewell Assembly on Wednesday, 9 June and the Senior Parade on Thursday, 10 June. These events are still in the planning phases; so, we will get information out as soon as our plans are finalized and approved.

"Winter" Sports Season has begun

Greetings Knights,

Thanks to all of our student-athletes, parents, and coaches who have made it possible for all of our Spring Sports programs to have a safe and successful season this year. Spring Sports was a high priority for our Wesco Athletic Directors to be able to protect after losing the Spring Sports season suddenly last March. If you participated last year during the shortened Spring Sports season and earned a Varsity letter this year, then you can earn 2 Varsity letters for the 2020 and 2021 Spring sports seasons.

Governor Inslee has maintained Snohomish County in Phase III, and so that allows our Winter Sports teams to be able to practice and compete. The Wesco league is only allowing home fans to Winter sport contests, and we will be producing tickets for each home contest to give to our coaching staffs, who will then distribute with a prioritization given for Senior student-athletes to be able to invite family and friends first, and then the remaining tickets will be distributed equitably to underclassmen. The Wesco league and Kamiak will be Livestreaming as many Winter sport contests as possible with a priority placed upon Varsity contests. Our Livestream schedule will be able to be found on the Kamiak HS Athletics Webpage, and our Livestreams can be found on the official Kamiak High School YouTube channel. Please also be sure and visit and subscribe to our new scheduling website.

For our home spectators please remember our Home contest guidelines:

  • Wear approved indoor face covering (No ‘gaiters’ and no bandanas)
  • Only attend contests if you are healthy to do so (attestation on tickets)
  • All spectators are expected to sit at least 6 feet apart from non-household members
  • No open containers
  • No re-entry
  • No backpacks
  • No artificial noisemakers
  • All signs must be approved by our game management staff
  • Be Loud, Be Proud, Be Positive
  • We root for the Knights and not against our opponents
  • We never make negative comments towards opposing players, coaches, or officials

We are looking forward to a great Winter sports season.

Go Knights!

become a kabc member

Now is the perfect time to become a KABC member to support our Athletic Booster club. Kamiak ASB Athletic funds are in an uncertain budgetary cycle right now following a school year of no ASB card sales, no revenue from ticket sales, no parking permit revenue, and no vending machine revenue. KABC has been a tremendous partner over the years in providing our student-athletes with a great high school athletic experience and providing many College scholarships to deserving Senior student-athletes. Kamiak Athletics may need to rely more heavily upon KABC for financial support for our team budgets in the near future until we can return fully to normal operating conditions. We hope that day is coming soon! If you haven’t become a KABC member yet, then please consider doing so today by clicking on the button below.

We are so appreciative and grateful for your continued support of Kamiak Athletics and KABC.

Hello Knights! We have been working hard to make sure we are ready for students and my job, as the School Nurse, is to keep everyone as safe as possible. And our whole Kamiak community has a role in supporting that in a few simple ways.

  • Please keep your student home if they feel sick! If your student has had any of the symptoms on the Attestation, please do not send them to school, even if they’re mild or you suspect “it’s just a cold.” We have all have to be extra cautious right now.
  • Be ready to pick up your student if they report any symptoms during the day. If your student begins to feel sick during the day, they will be sent home immediately for any one of these symptoms: fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, unusual fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, recent loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or abdominal pain. They may be asked to stay home for 10 days or get a Covid test before they come back to school if your student reports that they have had any of these symptoms for more than 24 hrs, or reports any combination of symptoms, or any typical COVID-19 symptoms. They will also need to be cleared by the School Nurse to return to the school building or other school events, such as sports. This is the policy set by the Washington State Department of Health and Snohomish Health District.
  • Please make sure your emergency contact information is up-to-date so that you can be reached if needed.
  • Finally please contact the attendance office if your student is absent, so we can provide instructions about when your student can return to in-person learning and other school events safely. Kamiak Attendance Office: KAattendance@mukilteo.wednet.edu or 425-366-5460. Students are always encouraged to continue learning online and participating remotely as they are able.

Thank you for your help keeping Kamiak safe during this time. Please let me know if you have any health concerns or questions. We are so excited to see everyone very soon!
