Type the rules we created as a classroom from the board. This is something we will return to. In the meantime, pick the rule you find most important (from the ones we created) and explain why that rule, above all others is most important on this island.

Rules-

Travel together

Don't go out at night

Share resources

Clean up after yourself

Communicate effectively

Do your job

Do NOT kill each other

My preferred best rule is: Share resources, because if you don't then you most diffenitly run out.

One of the themes of this novel is survival. Explain why the setting of this story adds to or contributes to the theme.

Survival is usally used in stranded or abandoned areas, and in this case they are stranded on an "abandoned" island.

Ralph has said, “This is a good island” (Golding 35). Ralph’s pronouncement will prove ironic; it is definitely NOT a good island. This is an example of foreshadowing. What problems do readers already know about? Explain why these problems prove this is NOT a good island after all.

Describe the Beast that seems to be stalking the island. Use the text as backup for your info.

Well the "beast" isn't really real, its just a person that survived a plane crash/dog fight.

Writing from Simon’s point of view, have him explain what the Beast is to the younger boys.

Simon does think that there MIGHT be a beast but he doesn't know yet for sure.

“What are we? Humans? Or animals? Or savages?” pg. 180

I chose this quote because every time period this seems to change, and it seems to change different for different people.

Letter to new student for 2017-2018

Dear new student,

I may not have been here for half the book, but overall of what I read was pretty good. Although i do like the book The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton more, but I can't make any bad or even good comments on this book because I wasn't here for half of it, because I was at a military academy in South Carolina for 9 weeks, then came back, then a few weeks later, I went to a mental hospital. So that's about it from me.

Your helpful, now 9th grader, Dylan O.
