Hello! It has been another really busy week for us all in school! I have loved being in more lessons and seeing some great teaching and learning. Staff and I met this week to consider the behaviour of our children around school - we're really pleased with the way they show kindness and respect to each other. We feel that our focus needs to be on children's learning behaviours. We're identifying our priorities for children's learning behaviours and will be 'spot lighting' these behaviours. The first thing that we want to focus on as a whole school is the skill of independence. Children will learn about this and other skills during the next term and we'll be helping children to see how they can demonstrate independence at a level appropriate for their year group.
Staff have established routines and expectations with their children, including a strong encouragement for children to read at home, practise spellings, etc. Please support your child to routinely work on these skills, it really will help them to make faster progress with their learning. If you're unsure how to help, please contact your child's teacher or phase leader in the first instance and they will be happy to work with you.
Whole school attendance is currently 94.1%, which is below national expectations. Please help us to secure good attendance across school. A new attendance policy, detailing rewards and support for children's attendance will be published in the coming weeks. Please also help your child's learning by supporting them to arrive at school in time for the start of registration. if your child needs to attend a medical appointment that cannot be planned outside of the school day, please always try to come to school first and then you can collect your child at the appropriate time to take them to the appointment.
