The Influence of Etruscans Sporting Events By Madelyn Brooks

Estruscan Sporting Events

The two most popular sports in Ancient Rome were chariot racing and gladiator or slave fighting. In chariot racing there were charioteers who raced in the chariots. This job was dangerous. They usually ended in injury or death. The charioteers were risking their lives. The other sport, slave fighting, was adapted from gladiator fights. Gladiators were people trained to fight others to death for public entertainment. Slave fighting was when slaves would fight at their master's funeral. But this game was not fair. The winning slave would be executed.
