The Baker Blast September 18, 2021

It's great that summer doesn't end on Labor Day! Mr. Germansky and his 6th grade readers enjoyed an outdoor read aloud session in great weather, Friday, September 17th. It is nice being able to use our outdoor spaces before the official end of summer, Autumnal Equinox, September 22nd. Our Baker Bobcats have a love for reading and we can inspire them to become frequent readers by reading aloud with them at home. It's contagious! When I saw them outside, I had to join in on the fun!

IM Sports/Club Form

Students interested in clubs and sports are required to pay a fee. The IM sports/club fee is $50. Payments will be completed using our electronic transaction service SchoolPay. Making this onetime payment provides unlimited access to all intramural sports and clubs for the entire school year. Making the payment early in the year will provide your student access to try a variety of different activities as they identify their interests. Please have your student pick this form up in the office.

Clubs are about to Start - Make sure you sign up today!

Free & Reduced Lunch Form

All students in the Troy School District will receive meals for free this year. If there are any families that were eligible for receiving benefits from the Food Assistance Program (FAP) or the Family Independence Program (FIP), we highly recommend that you still complete this form for the 2021-2022 school year. Eligible families will receive waivers for clubs and athletics to either reduce the cost or cover the costs completely. This assistance can only be acquired through the completion of the Free and Reduced Lunch form. Please click on the link above to access the form.

iPad Insurance

September 24th Deadline

Each year, parents need to complete the iPad Responsibility Form and opt in or out of the optional iPad insurance program. The form and details about the optional insurance program are available in the PowerSchool Parent Portal under the Forms tab.

If your child has a district issued iPad, this form should be completed as soon as possible. The form and ability to opt-in for insurance will close on September 24th. Once the window closes, only students new to the district will have the option to purchase insurance for the current school year.

If you have completed the form but have not yet submitted your payment, please do so as soon as possible to avoid receiving further reminders. Payment instructions are on the form.

This form MUST be completed for EACH student. If your student does not have a district provided iPad, please indicate that on the form. Reminders will be sent weekly to those who have not completed the form.

  • Log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal at https://ps.troy.k12.mi.us
  • From the left menu, click the Forms icon
  • From the General Forms tab, select the Student iPad Responsibility & Optional Insurance Form

If you choose to “Opt-In” to the $10 annual insurance program, payments can be made on-line via the link in the form or by cash/check sent or delivered to the Troy School District Technology Department, 4420 Livernois Road, Troy, MI 48098. If paying by cash or check, be sure to include your student(s) first/last name and student number with the payment. The form must be completed on-line prior to sending your payment.

School Pay

All students in the Troy School District will receive meals for free this year. We do offer additional snack items and beverages that students can purchase during breakfast and lunch. As a part of our mitigation strategy for contact free transactions, we are encouraging families to utilize our electronic transaction service called School Pay.

SchoolPay handles all parent, community, and staff payments from an easy-to-use, fully self-service interface. You can add money to your student's account using the link above. We use this system for most school transactions, including iPad insurance, field trip payments, etc.
