Mental Illness, by definition is a disorder that affects your mood, thinking and behavior. Mental illnesses come in a wide variety that can affect a persons life in a multitude of ways.

How do we fight Mental Illness?

Psychology is one way that we can fight mental illnesses. People study the mind and why people react certain ways. Psychologists and Psychiatrists use the knowledge they have gained to counsel people and help them to cope with the disorders they may have. Psychiatrists, unlike psychologists have the ability to prescribe medication to a patient if they feel it may help the patient live life with a higher quality. People who wish to pursue this career must go through years of schooling and training. People devote time and effort to helping others feel better about themselves and their life as a whole. In some cases psychologists/psychiatrists save lives of people who may be severely depressed or suicidal. These people are heros.
