It was inevitable... the rain came in the early morning and continued well into the day.
Today we planned to visit Neuschwanstein Castle in the morning, followed by our 56km bike ride. We just needed tickets and the only way to secure an early session was to send our delegate Graeme along to queue up at 7:30 in the morning which gave us the 9:45am timeslot, the earliest one available.
With such a picturesque Castle, It was a little disappointing knowing that the day before was great weather and we are expecting a couple more days of decent weather... just not today!
Unfortunately no photos were allowed, but it was a magnificent castle and the misty clouds made for a more dramatic mysterious and enchanted backdrop.
Before long we were braving the elements and cycling in light rain with a planned tea break just a few minutes down the road. This turned out to be better than expected, with a very welcoming host who applied hot drinks to everyone’s taste along with either vegetable and liver soup, or Apple Strudel with ice cream depending on your preference for sweet or savoury! Again, it wasn’t before too long that Brett had charmed our hostess and had her eating out of his hand, especially after presenting her with a cute clip on Koala bear.
Delaying getting back on the road paid off with the weather finally clearing.
We still stopped for a late lunch to provide a break and another refuel of yummy salad rolls and finally we hit the home stretch with a fast downhill section to bring us home just after 5pm.
We finished off the day with dinner at the local Greek restaurant who happened to be celebrating its 10th anniversary in style with most of the locals turning out as well as a generously catered for buffet dinner and a live band! What more could you ask for?
