Planning Your Session
Are you dreading planning your session? Are you dreading trying to get all those kiddos to smile?
Surprise! Your session is going to be fun! !
As a mother of two kids believe me when I say, I know how you feel! It’s easy to get overwhelmed with the planning of the outfits, choosing the perfect location and keeping everyone happy long enough to at least look happy in the photos. It’s a good thing for you that all of those are my specialties!
Here are a few tips on things to be thinking about as we begin to plan your session. Remember that I’m here with you and for you from the moment you book your session, so be sure to relax and let things flow! I am super laid back and patient, so I bring that with me to every shoot. My documentary family sessions typically run from 3-6 hours, so I want to assure you that you can breathe easy throughout our time together, and focus on celebrating and loving your family!
-I'm passionate about capturing your family making all of the sweet and fun memories that you can while I'm with you! I ask that you think about what memories you want to have in your photographs. Is it your son or daughter playing with their favorite toys? Or maybe the afternoon cuddles on the couch? Or how about your children running through the sprinklers on a warm summer evening, or playing a game around the dining room table? A session with me is all about capturing real life memories and moments. I want you to think about what activity you could do with your family as a whole that will help bring out the uniqueness of your family for me to document.
-When we’re deciding on a location your home is a great place to start! There are so many memories made in your home, and you're surrounded by the things that you all find the most comfortable which equals out to the sentimental memories we all hold so dear. Other options would be the beach, a favorite park, or even a trip to your favorite store! Wherever it is, we want to make sure it holds a special place in your heart, ensuring that the memories we document are priceless.
-If you're at all concerned about any of your children not cooperating, trust me when I say that I'm there to relieve the burden, not add to it. I'm very good at getting children to play and relax. My sessions are not about them looking at the camera and smiling, although 99.9% of the time they end up doing just that without any direction from me. I try to make it as fun as possible, and making each of them feel just as special as the next family member. I also always come prepared, and bring a special surprise to give them at the end of the shoot as a gift for being awesome!! The gift comes whether they have a hard time during the session or not.
