Olive Shoot has created each step to give you the full service photography experience you deserve.

The Olive Shoot Experience

Hi, I'm Nikki!

Ok, now that we've been introduced, let me ask you a couple of questions. How many times have you taken a photo with your phone or camera, and never did anything with the photos? Are you like me and you forget to go back and print them out? That is one thing that Olive Shoot strives to make sure doesn’t happen with the photos from our sessions together!

Olive Shoot is a full service boutique photography business. My goal is to make sure you not only have an amazing session that leaves you with fun memories but also to provide you with heirloom quality prints and products that will last a lifetime.

No more files hidden away in drawers for no one to see. About two weeks after your session you’ll have your reveal night where you’ll get to see all of your images for the first time. That night we’ll work to create amazing products to showcase your entire session. From wall art to albums, Olive Shoot has a full range of products to meet all of your needs!

I’m guessing that right now you’re saying “But I want the digital files!”. Don’t worry I completely understand where you’re coming from. I value digital files as much as you do (otherwise I wouldn’t have a stack of hard drives filled with precious family memories!). Olive Shoot offers collections that include digital files along with the quality products for your family to enjoy. You’ll get the best of both worlds AND get them for a lower price when they’re combined in a collection. Doesn’t get much better than that!

So now it’s time to grab a cup of coffee and flip through these pages. Learn how, together, we’ll create an unforgettable experience of a lifetime!

Planning Your Session

Are you dreading planning your session? Are you dreading trying to get all those kiddos to smile?

Surprise! Your session is going to be fun! !

As a mother of two kids believe me when I say, I know how you feel! It’s easy to get overwhelmed with the planning of the outfits, choosing the perfect location and keeping everyone happy long enough to at least look happy in the photos. It’s a good thing for you that all of those are my specialties!

Here are a few tips on things to be thinking about as we begin to plan your session. Remember that I’m here with you and for you from the moment you book your session, so be sure to relax and let things flow! I am super laid back and patient, so I bring that with me to every shoot. My documentary family sessions typically run from 3-6 hours, so I want to assure you that you can breathe easy throughout our time together, and focus on celebrating and loving your family!

-I'm passionate about capturing your family making all of the sweet and fun memories that you can while I'm with you! I ask that you think about what memories you want to have in your photographs. Is it your son or daughter playing with their favorite toys? Or maybe the afternoon cuddles on the couch? Or how about your children running through the sprinklers on a warm summer evening, or playing a game around the dining room table? A session with me is all about capturing real life memories and moments. I want you to think about what activity you could do with your family as a whole that will help bring out the uniqueness of your family for me to document.

-When we’re deciding on a location your home is a great place to start! There are so many memories made in your home, and you're surrounded by the things that you all find the most comfortable which equals out to the sentimental memories we all hold so dear. Other options would be the beach, a favorite park, or even a trip to your favorite store! Wherever it is, we want to make sure it holds a special place in your heart, ensuring that the memories we document are priceless.

-If you're at all concerned about any of your children not cooperating, trust me when I say that I'm there to relieve the burden, not add to it. I'm very good at getting children to play and relax. My sessions are not about them looking at the camera and smiling, although 99.9% of the time they end up doing just that without any direction from me. I try to make it as fun as possible, and making each of them feel just as special as the next family member. I also always come prepared, and bring a special surprise to give them at the end of the shoot as a gift for being awesome!! The gift comes whether they have a hard time during the session or not.

What to Wear

Deciding what to wear for your session can seem like a huge chore. Following these simple tips will help you chose the perfect outfits for your upcoming session with ease! Don’t forget to check your closet first!

DO- Choose a color scheme based on where you’d like to hang these pictures. For example, If you’re planning on a living room wall display and your living room is decorated in earth tones choose colors that will coordinate.

DON’T- Match. Leave the jeans and white t-shirts at home and instead choose a color scheme and coordinate your outfits rather than match them.

DO- Layer. The more layers the better. Sweaters, scarves, jewlery, blazers, hats. Layers create visual interest and add texture throughout your pictures. They’re a great addition.

DON’T- Be afraid of patterns. Plaids, polkadot, florals and stripes can be overwhelming when all paired together but mixing in a few patterns here and there is another great way to add some interest to your photos.

DO- Pay attention to your shoes. Shoes matter! A pair of nike sneakers mixed in with cute boots and dress shoes can be an eye sore in your photos. Try to stick with neutral shoes for the whole family. If we're at your home, you can also go barefoot which is my absolute favorite!

DON’T- Wear logos. As much as shoes can be an eye sore so can a big logo across a t-shirt. Try to steer clear of sports or brand logos or sayings across the front of your shirt. Again, this takes the attention away from the family and brings the eye right to the t-shirt.

DO- Stay comfortable! Especially for mom, pick something you love and build around that. Wear something you’re comfortable sitting, standing, running and playing in! You’ll thank me later!

DON’T- Over think it! You want your family to look like your family so don’t stress too much about the outfits. Be sure to have fun with it!

We absolutely LOVE Nikki! She is so thoughtful, goes the extra mile for every shoot, is extremely patient and has an amazing eye for capturing the perfect photo (times a million). Smiling for her is the easy part -- picking my favorites on the other hand... -Kayla H.

After the Session

You’ve already had a blast at your session but now things are about to get even better! Two weeks after your session we’ll have your reveal night (We’ll schedule this at the same time we schedule your session to make sure you see your images as soon as possible!). On your reveal night you’ll see all of your images for the first time. It’s definitely something to get excited about!

That night I’ll come to your home (that’s right no babysitter and you can even stay in your jammies if you want!) and show you a custom slideshow with your images. After you’ve experienced the slideshow you’ll have some time to go through all of your images and take a look at all of the product samples. Seeing everything in person will really give you a sense of what products are most important to you. My favorites are albums and canvases!

You’ll have plenty of time to ask any questions, to hold up images to different walls in your own home to see what sizes will work best and enough time to pick out your favorites.

The collections on the following page have been put together to give you the absolute best quality products for the best value. Those collections are available on reveal night only. No need to worry if the products in the offered collections don’t fit your needs, all products are available a la carte as well and are 20% off on reveal night!

The goal of the reveal night is to finalize your order so we can get your prints and products to you as soon as possible. To help make this stress free it’s a great idea to take a look through all of the different products and collections so you can go into it with an idea of what might work best for you. Once you’ve seen your images that may change but it’s always good to have an idea when we get started!

When all the fun of the reveal night is over, you’ll have a short wait before you’ll have those images in your hands! Digital files purchased will be made available within 24 hours and you can expect to have your prints and products in hand within 2-4 weeks. When everything is in, we’ll schedule a time that I can hand deliver everything to make sure it gets there safely!

*to hold your photo session appointment, each session requires a $175 non-refundable retainer fee that is due the day your book your appointment.

It will be my absolute joy and pleasure to work with you, and to get to be apart of capturing such a special time in your family's life!
