Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix 2016

Courtesy of a friend of mine, I got to watch the free practice session for the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix 2016. This was the Free Practice 1 session which took place on Friday evening.

I was a die hard Formula 1 fan, I'd been watching almost every single race since I was 12 years old or so. I'd even dreamt of completing my engineering degree in order to be able to join one of the team in designing the race car. Oh well, that's another story for another day...

As time goes by, I slowed down in catching the live action through live broadcasting. Sometimes it's hard to get a channel that broadcast it, sometimes I'm just too busy to catch up with their schedule. However, I am still following closely on the news and race result.

My all time favourite will be Ferrari. Since day one, the red prancing horse just caught my attention and made me fall in love for them ever since. Yes, I know they are not doing well these few years, but I still keep my faith in them, they will be back!

Although I called myself as a die hard fan, this was actually the first time I watch Formula 1 car raced passed in front of my eyes. Yes, this was the first time I'm watching it live in person and not through the TV screen.

Dashing through right in front of my eyes...

The sound of roaring engines and the smell of burning rubber...

Not knowing what to expect and I just feel like being casual for my first taste of Formula 1, I brought along my Fujifilm X30 compact camera to take some snapshots of the actions. Yes, the high ISO performance of the compact camera is not good at all, sensor was too small to record any nice details, but I'm quite happy with what the camera has delivered for me. Freezing action... no problem. Panning... got it. It's really amazing how far has compact cameras evolved.

It's an enjoyable experience for my first taste of Formula 1. I certainly looking forward to immerse myself in the race day, live, in the near future. Till then, go Ferrari!
