Headteacher Comment
Welcome back to the final term of the year. We have lots of exciting events planned for your children to help them celebrate the end of this academic year and to prepre them for a successful transtion to a new class and teacher. Please keep an eye out for information about this.
Last week we successfully ran our first Holiday Camp at Greenfields. The parents said; ‘My son came home with lots of crafts he made and loved all the sport activities’, ‘My daughter absolutely loved the half term club so much that we have signed up for summer club as well’, ‘I have recommended the Camp and will book again in the future’, ‘he loved ALL of it’, ‘A**** especially enjoyed the cheerleading and the arts and crafts. She really loves the 2 ladies that ran the club and is super excited for the 6 weeks holiday to go again’, ‘T*** loved it!’. You can find out more on our school Facebook page:
We are very much looking forward to running the Holiday Camp throughout the summer break and are looking to grow the hardworking Camp Team. The hours are paid and can be flexible to suit you. You can apply by clicking the button below:
Quick reminder: Please do your best to stick to your child’s allocated pick up and drop off time, this ensures a steady flow of parents and children around our site rather than causing human congestion which make it increasingly difficult to maintain the 2 meter social distancing required. Many thanks for your continued support with this.
If you notice cars parked inconsiderately or even putting pedestrians in danger, please do report it to the Local Authority: Street Doctor (Kettering Borough Council) by clicking the button below.

Headteacher Reward Day Fun
Everyone loved their Headteacher Reward Day treat and got soaked by their friends. They enjoyed using the water blasters and even got their teachers! Every child with impeccable behaviour is invited to join the Reward Day at the end of every term - please read The Greenfields Way for Parents (link at the end of this Newsletter) to find out more....
Habitats
Year Two had some busy children over the half term making their habitat art projects. They will be learning about pond beach and woodland habitats.
Body Systems
This term in Year Six the children are studying the human body. They kicked off their topic by selecting one of the body’s systems to research, They discovered some fascinating facts about their organs . They loved showcasing their findings by making a plasticine model of the chosen system! Check out some of the intricate models below:
STEM Club
Year Two STEM club had a great time creating mini lava lamps using oil, water and food colouring. They even made mini explosions using fizzing tablets! They also made paper airplanes and had a competition to see who could fly the furthest.
Wow! day in Reception
As part of Wow Day and to introduce the new term's learning, the children looked at countries and the equator. They compared weather in the UK with foreign countries, pretended to be at the beach and showed an understanding of how to keep safe in the sun.
The class also talked about polar, temperate and tropical climate zones and which one our country goes into. They talked about what clothing people would need and how animals survive the focus was on cold places,. The class made an igloo using paper cups and marshmallows.
Reception are also learning about materials: discussing names, the feel, if they are similar or different. The children even had their own recycling centre where they sorted out different materials into groups before creating a poster about recycling and how we as people need to keep our environment clean and healthy.

Home School Agreement
As we become more used to our online way of working, we thought it was important to add to our home/school agreement (that you signed when your child started at Greenfields) to include online learning. Please follow the link below to complete this short addition relating to online learning with Greenfields Primary School and Nursery.
Class Code and Google Link
Teachers are looking forward to posting their ‘Flipping Greenfields’ videos this Friday in time for the weekend. Each one is all about next week’s learning, so will get your child prepared for a flying start on Monday. Research shows that children who feel prepared for the coming week are less anxious about school, happier to get up and go on a Monday morning and achieve better than those who are not.
