Lee Kyoung-hoon Wins Byron Nelson to Claim 1st PGA Title

Golfer Lee Kyoung-hoon won his first career victory on the PGA Tour at the AT&T Byron Nelson in Texas on Sunday.

He finished with a 25-under 263, three strokes ahead of runner-up Sam Burns of the U.S.

Lee is the eighth Korean to win a PGA title after Choi Kyung-ju, Yang Yong-eun, Bae Sang-moon, Noh Seung-yul, Kim Si-woo, Kang Sung-hoon and Im Sung-jae.

After winning twice on the Japan Golf Tour, he moved to the U.S. in 2016 to play on the Korn Ferry Tour, the developmental tour for the PGA Tour, on which he debuted in the 2018-19 season.

"I can't believe [it]. [I am] so excited [and] very, very happy. [Many] thanks [to] everybody," he said after earning his victory.

He is the third Korean golfer to win the event after Kang Sung-hoon in 2019 and Bae Sang-moon in 2013. The event was canceled last year due to COVID-19.

This year is turning out to be a memorable one for Lee, who is due to become a father in July.
