It's been another busy week at SQP - ending with all classes taking part in 'England does the Daily Mile'. Thank you to Miss Panther for organising this for us.

We would also like to thank Swinton Community Focus Group for their kind donation to school after they were able to use some of our daffodils around the local community.

Can I please remind everyone that Monday 3rd is a bank holiday so school will be closed and Thursday 6th is a polling day and school will also be closed.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend with better weather than this afternoon.

Mrs Cunningham

Head Teacher appointment.

It gives us great pleasure to inform you that the Trust have appointed Mr Higginbottom as the next Headteacher of Swinton Queen Primary. We are delighted with this appointment as we have known – and worked with – him since he began his teaching career here over 20 years ago.

Mr Higginbottom has always kept a keen interest in our school and we know that you will join us welcoming him back to school. Swinton Queen has a bright future ahead.

Mrs M Parr, Chair of the Governing Body.

Cycle / Scoot to school.

As part of our on-going commitment to reducing the number of car journeys made to school and in order to keep all our pupils safe we are introducing a ‘cycle / scoot to school contract’. There have been a few ‘near miss’ incidents reported to school and as a result of this we are introducing this contract.

So that permission can be given, pupils and parents/guardians must read, understand and agree the contract. Without this being agreed to we will not be able to allow scooters and bikes to be stored in school. We are also trying to source ‘Bikeability’ training for school, which children will need to pass before we can allow them to cycle to school independently.

The contract can be found on the school website - https://www.swintonqueenprimary.org.uk/parents/letters

PE Kit

PE Kit

From the 3rd May, we are revising our policy on coming to school in PE kits. If your child is in Class 1, 2 or 3, they can continue to come to school in their PE kit on their PE day. For children in other classes, they come in School Uniform as usual and change into their kit – as they did – prior to the Covid pandemic. Therefore, children will need to bring their PE kit in a separate bag on this day. Thank you for your co operation.

For children in classes 4, 5 and 6 we will be splitting the boys and girls into separate spaces for changing. We have created a space at the back of the hall where the girls will get changed before and after the P.E sessions.

We are also in the process of ordering P.E tops for all children in school and hope to have these delivered during the next half term.
