China Adventure 2019

Several students and two staff members had the opportunity to visit several cities in China this summer. This trip, sponsored by International Partnership of Education Research and Communication (IPERC), was designed for students at Gahanna Lincoln High School to be immersed in the Chinese culture and learn with and from students in three different schools in China (two of which are our sister middle and high schools).

Ten students, two staff members, and three adult chaperones completed the trip, along with the wonderful IPERC guide in China. The trip was from June 8-June 17 and consisted of visits to four different cities: Shanghai, Hangzhou, Tangshan and Beijing.

In addition to our school visits, there were many opportunities to engage in authentic Chinese language, food and culture. The students visited the Yuyuan Garden, Xitang Ancient Watertown, Hefang Street, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, took a cruise tour on the West Lake, and explored the Great Wall of China.

All ten of the students on the trip have been studying the language and culture since elementary school, participating in our Chinese Enrichment Program, and have continued their studies leading into AP Chinese at the high school.
