Matthew Caldwell IDS 3933

My goals over the next few years include impacting the world in as many positive ways as possible through the management of organizations, teaching with Teach for America, and pursuing global good in as many ways as possible. I have a passion for people and a love of lifelong learning.

My interdisciplinary focus as a student at the University of Central Florida is to develop a broad range of knowledge which includes highlighted important details from a variety of disciplines. My focus areas include specifically Commerce and Modern Language and within those areas I most focus on Management, Marketing, and Spanish courses. This portfolio is intended to provide full information of my qualifications along with my personal values and ethics so that full transparency can be seen prior to my employment/admission to this institution. As a Grad School/Employer you will have many different applicants but the purpose of this portfolio is to differentiate me from alternative candidates.

When working with a team it is important to celebrate victories with celebrations as simple as a sunset. My extensive leadership experience sets me a part above other candidates in similar aspects.

In reflection, my many past experiences serving often as the youngest person on a team or as a director while taking full classes and maintaining a positive work-life balance have ensured my ability to succeed in any post graduate institution. In addition to excelling across many different disciplines in academia I have prided myself in excelling across all parts of the collegiate experience. I was honored to be named a Teach for America 2018 corps member in recognition of my leadership experience and qualifications. I have also been honored to be well respected on my college campus with many positions which have left a greater impact in all areas I have served in. Serving in positions all over campus in many different roles, with different budgets and different objectives has allowed for growth beyond the classroom and allowed me to learn skills not possible by simply reading a textbook or listening to a lecture. My ambition for success post graduation is fueled by my success at the University of Central Florida and my understanding of the work that lies ahead.

One of my many great honors has been to raise funds to sponsor 5 dogs for the charity K9s for Warriors. This charity sponsors veterans with post traumatic stress disorder receiving service dogs which greatly reduce the symptoms. In April of 2016 I was given the K9s for Warriors service award honor in recognition of my commitment to the organization which was presented to me by the organization's executive director Rory Diamond and founder Shari Duval.
