A large problem is the fact parents are implementing a diet on children, and not giving them a choice.
When dieting gets out of hand it becomes a problem. That is when it may become an eating disorder.

Children are placed on a scale the day they are born.

Billboards and advertisements show models as skinny and perfect. This results in insecurity of children and the fear that they are not good enough looking because of the billboards.
