Bemidji State Students Present "Posters at the Capitol"

Six Bemidji State students presented the results of their undergraduate research during the fourth annual Minnesota Undergraduate Scholars presentation, "Posters in St. Paul," at the Minnesota state capitol building on March 2.

The annual showcase highlights academic work done by undergraduate students at the Minnesota State system’s colleges and universities, and provides those students with the opportunity to share the results of their scholarly activity with legislators and other government officials.

The event celebrates the work being done by Minnesota State’s students and further establishes the system’s colleges and universities as Minnesota’s leader in undergraduate research and creative work.

"It was a great experience to discuss the progress that the Wallert Cancer Research Team has made, and the importance of research with different members that comprise the Minnesota State government." -Taylor Manzella

Participants in “Posters at the Capitol” are selected through a competitive process, and between two and three dozen students are chosen to participate.

District 5 Senator, Justin Eichorn, discussed higher education, academic research, and his future plans for Bemidji with Bemidji State students Taylor Manzella, Amanda Kooiker, and Brianna Graner.

The six Bemidji State students who participated are: Joe Artus, a senior biology major from St. Louis Park, Minn.; Brianna Graner, a junior geography major from Rockford, Minn.; Teo Kalliomaa, a senior biology major from Monticello, Minn.; Amanda Kooiker, a senior biology major from Pipestone, Minn.; Taylor Manzella, a junior biology major from Sartell, Minn.; Emma Reiss, a junior biology major from Maple Grove, Minn..
