High school students and Muskie Pom led a Central Middle School assembly on Thursday afternoon. In an effort to create more unity between the high school and other buildings in the district, high school Peer Mentoring students met with leaders from Central Middle School to teach middle school students Muskie Football cheers. Students in middle school will stand closer to the high school student section for the Homecoming game tonight and will be cheering along with older students in the district. Go Muskies!

MUSCATINE HIGH SCHOOL
Greasers, hippies, glam girls, and Michael Jackson oh my! #kramerchemistry #throwbackthursday Class enjoying homecoming themes and making atomic structure video games.
The high school chemistry students (of all chemistry teachers) are learning about atomic structure. We have spent some time outside building models of the atom using hula hoops and different sizes/colors of balls. In the classroom our students also worked with Bohr Model kits (made by the Chem PLC team). These activities have helped them learn about how many protons and neutrons belong in the nucleus and how many electrons belong in the different energy levels of atoms.
The Mighty Muskie Marching Band placed second in the Marion, IA, marching invitational on Saturday, Sept. 24. From left - Katherine Hurlbut, color guard co-captain, drum majors Chris Kenefick, Kaleb Drawbaugh, Molly Matkovich, and Breanna Osborn, color guard co-captain.
Students Reggie Krogman and Derrick Lauterwasser in their Manufacturing 1 class with Mr. Mayer, were pouring their sand casting molds that they made themselves. Reggie poured a JFK medallion while Derrick poured an Eagle wall hanger. This was the second time that students poured in this class this term.
Boys Varsity Golf took 2nd at the MAC over the weekend. The two-day tournament at Kewanee Dunes, Kewanee IL had the Muskies in the lead over Assumption and Bettendorf by 6 strokes and 4 strokes, respectively, after shooting a 309 to end Round One. Day Two still had the Muskies posting some great scores for a 316, but it wasn’t enough to beat Assumption who posted 308 to win the MAC by 2 strokes. Muscatine’s total two-day score of 625 is 32 strokes better than their 4th place finish last year! Muskies lead scorers were Bryce Howard who finished 7th overall shooting 79/77 = 156 followed by Josh Hutton and Ben Linderman who finished tied for 8th with a two-day total of 76/81 = 157. Muskies compete for District next Monday, October 3rd at Palmer Hills in Bettendorf. Congrats Muskies and good luck at District.
Here is a sample of Muskie Homecoming 2016! Go Muskies!
