The year is certainly flying by and we’ve enjoyed an action packed first few weeks of term 4.

The team can't wait to see you all at parent teacher interviews on Thursday 28th November. It is a real joy to celebrate children's success with you all. Students are always proud to share their portfolios and we look forward to presenting you with their end of year reports.

We have an exciting five weeks ahead of us including junior tabloid sports and senior athletics day. I personally can’t wait to see our amazing choir perform at the Kids for Kids Concert on Wednesday 13th November at the Vodafone Events Centre.

Full School Assembly

On Friday the 29th November we are holding our last full school assembly for 2019. Our amazing school choir will perform. Monika from Tupu Library will be promoting the Auckland Libraries Summer Reading Programme as well. Please feel free to pop along and help us celebrate student success.

Students for 2020/Parent Information Morning

We are starting to consider the make-up of our classes for 2020. To help us with this job, it is useful to be informed of any new students who intend coming to Chapel Downs and of any families who are leaving. If you have neighbours, family or friends who are planning to come here please encourage them to pre-enrol. Our parent information morning will be held on Thursday 14th November .

Please ring the office on(09) 274 8002 if you would like to attend.

Term 4-Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews

It is well established that schools with a close home and school partnership are more successful in meeting goals and targets for learning and teaching. The team is looking forward to reporting to you on students’ progress against their learning goals. Parent / Student / Teacher interviews will be held in week seven – Thursday 28th November from 2pm

Athletics Day

This year our athletics sports will be held on Tuesday 19th November

• Y5/Y6 Athletics 9.30am - 12.00pm

• Y3/Y4 Athletics 12.30pm - 3.00pm

All students will compete in six different events – sprints, 400m run, 800m run, high jump, long jump and softball throw.

Y0/Y1/Y2 Tabloid Sports

This year our Tabloid sports day will be held on Wednesday 4th December. You are warmly welcome to come and support our athletes for the day.

• Y0 / Y1/ Y2 Tabloid Athletics 11.00 am - 3.00 pm

Please ensure all students attend in their Chapel Downs sports uniforms and bring a huge drink of water and substantial healthy lunch. Parents are invited to have lunch with their children.

Music Show Case Y4/Y5/Y6

Parents and whanau are welcome to come along to the Year 4, Year 5 & Year 6 Music Showcase. Friday 15 November 1.30-3pm in the hall

Y6 GRADUATION AND SENIOR SCHOOL SERVICE AWARDS

On Friday the 6th December from 1.30pm we will hold our annual Senior School Service Awards and our Year 6 Graduation. All parents are welcome to attend and we especially want our Year 6 parents to come and see their child graduate.

2019 School Prize Givings

You are warmly invited to attend our prize giving ceremonies. These two events are wonderful celebrations of our student successes. The Junior School Prizegiving and the Senior School Prize giving will be held as follows:

Senior School Prize Giving: 6.30 pm on Thursday 12th December

Sports Desk

Last week Year 6 softball teams went to Rongomai Park to participate in the softball competition. The children demonstrated amazing teamwork, encouraged and supported not only themselves, but the other school and most of all persevered and gave it their best until the end of their last game.

We didn't come away with the win - but we are still Chapel Downs Champs

End of Term 4

All Junior School children (Year 0 – Year 3), Year 4 children and Year 6 children finish at 3.00 pm Thursday 12th December. 2020 class lists will be issued on this day.

Year 5 children (Senior children in 2020) finish at 10.30 am Friday 13th December.

Last Day for After School Care

The last day for After School Care will be Thursday 12th December. Enrolments for After School Care in 2020 are available on request from the School Office. The programme start date in 2020 will be Thursday 30th January 2020.

Enrolments

If your child is turning 5 in the next 12 months (born in 2015 or 2016) please ensure you enrol them as soon as possible. With the roll steadily growing at Chapel Downs this will enable us to keep a track of how many New Entrants we can expect in the future. Enrolment packs are available at the office. Our term 4 New Parent Information Morning will be held on Thursday 14th November at 9.15am.
