Injustices of Jim Crow laws

Jim Crow laws prevented blacks from voting because of the grandfather clause, poll taxes and literacy tests.

My first piece of evidence is the grandfather clause this was one thing that stopped blacks from voting. The reason for such is because this stated that people who's grandfathers couldn't vote meant they couldn't vote and the grandfathers of these blacks couldn't vote because they where slaves.

My second piece of evidence is poll taxes. This is another law that was put into place that prevented blacks from voting. This was a tax that targeted blacks because they did not have the money to pay the tax.

My third and last piece of evidence is the literacy tests that where put into place that targeted blacks. These literacy tests prevented blacks from voting because many blacks where illiterate because they had been enslaved for so many years and they where not aloud to learn how to read.

Economic

Jim Crow laws negatively impacted the economic situations of blacks.

Black teachers in the same states made less than white teachers in almost every single state in the country.

Stats from the Jim Crow textbook

Another way that Jim Crow laws negatively impacted economic situations of blacks was that job discrimination was legal. Therefore many people wouldn't employ blacks and they would say white only when asking people to apply.

The last way that Jim Crow laws negatively impacted the economic situations of blacks was that school segregation was legal. Therefore blacks got much worse schools which lead to them getting poor educations and eventually worse jobs.

Social/cultural

Both the social and cultural effects of Jim Crow laws where negative towards African Americans in many different ways.

One way that Jim crows laws negatively impacted blacks socially and culturally is that they where not aloud to sit where they wanted on a bus because Jim Crow laws legalized segregation which meant that this was all legal.

Another way that Jim Crow laws negatively impacted blacks socially and culturally is that they could not get a fair trial for example the case of the scottsboro boys.

Jim Crow textbook

The last way that Jim Crow laws negatively impacted blacks socially and culturally is that they couldn't often live where they wanted to. Racist people would put up signs saying that blacks where not aloud to live there only whites and Jim Crow laws legalized things like this.
