Trauma Awareness Month

In October 2018, Governor Carney signed Executive Order 24, making Delaware a trauma-informed state. The Executive Order directed state agencies to develop tools for training state employees and community partners on the impact of exposure to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), to promote ACE awareness, and to improve services and interventions for children and families exposed to trauma. The Family Services Cabinet Council is leading efforts to ensure that Delaware becomes a trauma-informed state by promoting a Trauma Awareness Month in Delaware. On May 1st staff from Red Clay (Shortlidge, Stanton, and Linden Hills) were present for the inaugural event at Delaware State University.

National Signing Day & Red Clay's 1st Annual Career Decision Day

During the first week of May, Red Clay Secondary Schools celebrated college decision day and Career. Each school’s plan took a different angle, but as a district, we celebrated students headed to Ivy League Schools like Brown, Princeton and Dartmouth, large state schools like Delaware, Maryland and Virginia Tech, and smaller schools like Marywood, Delaware State and Goldey Beacom. In addition, we recognized students that have made a decision to enter career pathway or military service. Students enlisted in the Army, Air Force, National Guard and Marines. While others are going on to modeling careers, Disney on Ice, Princeton Ballet, and many of our graduates are going directly into the workforce as electricians, auto mechanics, and health care by way of Christiana Care partnership (Project Search).
