His full name was René François Ghislain yMagritte. He was born on November 21, 1898 in Lessines, Belgium and died on August 15, 1967 in Brussels, Belgium.

He was married to Georgette Berger from 1922-1967

He learned his skills of art at Académie des Beaux-Arts

1. In 1921 Magritte began his one year of compulsory military service before returning home and marrying Georgette Berger. 2.The Lost Jockey and The Menaced Assassin Magritte quickly became one of the most important artists in Belgium and found himself at the center of its nascent surrealist movement. 3. In the late 1930s Magritte’s newfound popularity resulted in exhibitions of his work in New York City and London.

Quotes he said are "Everything we see hides another thing, we always want to see what is hidden by what we see." Another is "Life obliges me to do something, so I paint."

He was apart of the Surrealism and Modern art movement

This piece of artwork was my favorite. The title of this is "Two heads looking out and beyond the shadows.'"

He has line all over, especially making if the windows which can also come into the shape and form section. Shapes as cylinders to make the curtain rods and squares to make the outline of the window. This painting has about 5 colors. The space is showing the space outside of the window which has a lot of space and has a view. The name of this painting is The Human Condition.

What I think he was trying to say is basically trying to show picture perfect to. What you paint can turn into reality. It gives a peaceful feeling to me, you can't really think negative when looking at this painting.
