GOOGLE EXPEDITIONS! WE STILL HAVE THEM!

How did we get so lucky! The Google Expeditions are still currently at Glenhope until another school signs up for them. Since the district bought more sets, there is an opportunity to have them more throughout the year. As you are planning your lessons, think of ways you can incorporate the Expeditions. Let me know if you would like me to help you plan and find ways to use them. I have even seen ways that they could be used in Humanities/Language Arts. The possibilities are endless.

NEW BOOKS!

Just an update! Thanks to our recent bond and a successful book fair, our Glenhope library collection has been getting an update! Since May, there have been 1,043 new books added to the library. This includes books that represent student voice from a Student Wish List, books to meet curriculum needs, current popular titles and an order that is currently coming for our 5th grade students that are reading at a middle school or higher level. Our students also have access to thousands of current ebook titles through Overdrive, which was funded by the bond, as well. It is an exciting time to be a reader in our school!

DATABASE CURATION/CURRICULUM RESOURCES

Keep in mind, as you are planning, that I am happy to help you with resources that your students can access easily. If you have a topic you are wanting resources for, let me know! Our library management system has a new feature called Destiny Collections which is similar to Mackinvia. I can make a collection that makes it easy for students to get to appropriate websites, navigate to topics in our databases, or find books that are on a certain topic. Let me know what your needs are!

FULL CLASSROOM SET OF BOOKS

Surprise, who knew they were there! In the back office of the library, there are about 6 shelves of a full classroom set of books of certain titles. Several of our wonderful teachers have been using them in creative ways with their classes. So, if you can think of ways to use them, just know that they are available! Come take a look!

BLUEBONNET VOTING CELEBRATIONS-3rd through 5th Gr.

The forms for the Bluebonnet Reading were due Friday, the 12th. If you have students that bring them Tuesday, send them down. I will be putting invitations in your boxes for students who read 5 of the books. The Celebrations will be before the end of January on a couple of afternoons between 2:15 - 2:50.

WORLD READ ALOUD DAY...OR SHOULD WE SAY WEEK

World Read Aloud Day is a day set aside for people all around the globe to read aloud together and share stories to advocate for literacy! At Glenhope we will have World Read Aloud Week the week of Jan. 29. My goal is to connect every student with another class globally or with an author. This requires nothing extra of you. It will be done during your library time. If there is a time that your class will meet with an author, I will check with you ahead of time to make sure the times work. This is one of many ways to help get students excited about reading!
