What we are learning
Map Testing: We will have MAP tests on Tuesday and Thursday this week. We spent the past week reviewing skills that we haven't looked at in awhile, so we should be prepared. Have your child get a good night's rest and a good breakfast before the test. I will send home results as soon as it is all finalized.
Language Arts: We are starting a unit on the Civil War. We will read several stories, some fiction and some non-fiction. Our first focus question is, " Why did the United States go to war against itself, and what were the various reasons men and boys joined the fight?"
Math: We will start Unit 5 this week. It continues to focus on fractions. We will work on adding, subtracting, and multiplying fractions with unlike denominators
MOBY MAX: I have been using MOBY MAX in class as a way for students to work while I pull small groups for Math. I post weekly challenges and reward students for being in the top 6 and for meeting their challenge. They can login to this at home and work on it for extra practice.
Social Studies: This month we are skipping forward in time and studying the Civil Rights movement.
