Generative Art with Adobe Illustrator:

Learn how to create generative art in Adobe Illustrator. Explore the possibilities of seeing what happens when familiar tools are applied in unfamiliar ways. Chevon will lead us through a brief overview of working with scripting and where to find the best scripts online. We’ll create simple brushes and patterns, deconstruct them, then recreate brushes from what remains, before letting illustrator’s algorithms take over to create artwork on its own. Mind. Blown.

About our Guest Speaker:

Chevon Hicks

Chevon Hicks founded the digital & social agency Heavenspot and sold it in 2015 to global agency network M&C Saatchi. It was actually the second time he sold the agency during the 20 years he presided over the company. He exited about a year later to focus on work that he describes as having more purpose and meaning. His new venture, PatternBreak aims to do just that, through a series of small tweaks that can be applied to both business and life. During the branding process for Hick’s new creative company, he relied heavily on generative artwork to establish the new look & feel. Generative art is typically made by programmers, but Chevon unlocked the generative art potential in Adobe Illustrator opening up new possibilities for designers already familiar with the tool."

WHAT IS NEW IN ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR CC 2016 JUNE RELEASE. ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR CC 2017 NOVEMBER RELEASE

Adobe Illustrator CC 2017

Chana Messer: new & improved features in Illustrator CC 2017: Here are few examples...

Filling type objects with placeholder text helps you visualize the design better. Now, by default, Illustrator automatically fills new objects created using type tools with placeholder text. The placeholder text retains the font and size applied to the previous type object.

Import Text into Shapes: Place text from a supported file right inside an object, such as a shape. You can place text from files in the .txt or .rtf formats, or files from word-processing applications. For example, place text from a .rtf file into a polygonal shape.

User experience refresh: Illustrator now has a brand new user interface that is flat, modern, and easy on the eyes. The tools and panels have new icons. You can customize the interface to sport one of the four available color options designed for optimal user experience: Dark, Medium Dark, Medium Light, and Light.
