Alaska Dreamin' Discover Southeast Alaska with Orbridge

What do you envision when you dream about traveling to Alaska? Is it the breathtaking landscapes? The iconic wildlife? Or perhaps the unique, immersive physical and cultural activities?

Your Alaska dreams can include it all with Orbridge! Explore The Last Frontier with us through this digital scrapbook.

With approximately 12,000 rivers, streams, and creeks, endless rugged wilderness, vast forests, grand mountain ranges, miles of coastline, and the high arctic plains, Alaska is beautiful—and BIG!

Totaling 586,412 square miles, Alaska is larger than Texas, California, and Montana combined!

A cruise through Alaska's incredibly scenic Inside Passage is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. On Orbridge's custom-designed tour, you'll be joined by a park ranger to explore the pristine waters of Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve—a globally significant marine and terrestrial wilderness sanctuary, plus World Heritage Site.

Admire deep fjords and snow-capped mountain ranges, and watch for icebergs and calving glaciers.

Alaska: easy on the eyes

And the wildlife! Along the shorelines—brown bears, mountain goats, sea otters, sea lions, harbor seals, a variety of seabirds, and bald eagles are regularly seen.

Speaking of bald eagles, did you know they are only found in North America, and are more abundant in Alaska than anywhere else in the United States? Displaying a wing span of up to 7.5 feet, the bald eagle has long been a spiritual symbol for Alaska Natives, and has been a national emblem of the United States since 1782.

Accompanied by a local guide, you'll learn about bald eagles and other birds of prey at the Alaska Raptor Center, Alaska's foremost bald eagle hospital and rehabilitation center located on 17 acres bordered by the Indian River. You will see firsthand the care and medical treatment their dedicated staff provides to over 200 injured birds each year.

Three main characteristics all raptors share are keen eyesight, strong feet with sharp talons, and a hooked beak.

Orbridge guests also have a special opportunity to tour Hidden Falls Hatchery to experience the reality of salmon culture brought to life. Often represented in carved totem poles, salmon are a symbol of abundance, renewal, fertility, and dependability. Learn about the release of salmon and the vital role fishing has held in Alaska for centuries.

From skyline to shoreline, Alaska's Inside Passage provides captivating, abundant wildlife. Puffins, caribou, foxes, bears, whales, harbor seals, mountain goats, and more—how many species sightings will your list include?

Of course, just as important as what you see in Alaska is how you see it. With Orbridge, this means traveling aboard the well-appointed, small expedition vessel, Chichagof Dream.

The nimble Chichagof Dream provides guests with a more personalized, up-close Alaskan experience through its ability to navigate channels and bays inaccessible to larger cruise ships.

Take in the amazing scenery from the ship's sizable lounge, outdoor promenade deck, and dining room common areas—perfect for wildlife viewing, photography, and birdwatching.

Books in the library on Alaskan history, geology, and wildlife engage the mind while bricks of salt backlit with an orange glow calm the body in the unique and innovative Himalayan salt cave.

Each of the 38 spacious staterooms features comfortable bedding, picture windows or twin portholes, and a private bathroom stocked with Alaska-crafted soaps and shampoos.

All aboard the Chichagof Dream! Top: the craft and deluxe stateroom. Bottom: dining room and naturopathic salt cave.

The Chichagof Dream is also outfitted with equipment for active exploration, including inflatable boats for shallow water cruising, glacial fjord discovery, and beach landings for hiking excursions, plus kayaks that allow guests to paddle among nature at leisure.

Back on board, guests partake in enriching educational and cultural presentations by knowledgeable expedition leaders, naturalists, and cultural guides. And the ship's open bridge policy encourages travelers to interact with the captain and officers who enjoy sharing stories of their Alaskan mariner experiences.
