Day 1 Recap 2019 Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship

GULF SHORES, Ala. - After day one of the 2019 NAIA Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala. three individual champions were crowned at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Sportsplex.

Throws

Men’s Hammer – Rowan Hamilton, British Columbia, 63.50 (208-4). Hamilton won the first men’s hammer title for British Columbia

Men’s Javelin – Jalon Simpson, Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), 70.99 (232-11). Simson won the first men’s javelin title for Olivet Nazarene

Decathlon

Men’s Decathlon leader after day 1 – Pieter Top of Westmont (Calif.) currently leads with a score of 3774

Top currently leads the decathlon by 32 points after five events on day one.

Track Events

Men’s 10,000m – Mark Shaw, Oklahoma City, 30:54.13

Shaw won the second 10,000m title for Oklahoma City. The last individual title in the 10,000m for OCU was in 2014.
