In the Philippines we do this as a sign of respect.
This is one of our traditions, it is called "tinikling"
Our national sport in the Philippines is called "sipa" which means kick. The purpose of this game is to kick it as many times as you can. It is pretty much like hackey sack.
In every city in the Philippines we have this annual thing that we call a "fiesta" where we have parades and where we cook food to share with our neighbors.
