The Christmas season is my favorite time of the year. I love looking at the Christmas lights and watching Christmas movies. Our television is always set on the Hallmark channel as we are constantly watching Christmas movies. My family tries to figure out the plot of the movie at the very beginning; we try to connect the dots. The meaning behind every Hallmark movie is hope. Hope is one of my favorite words. The definition of hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. The month of December is about hope. I once had a mentor that would constantly tell me, “You always have a chance of being successful if you have hope”. I replay those words in my mind every day.
Each month at GES, we have a character word we share with the students. This month’s character word is generosity. As we leave the month of gratitude (November) and enter the month of generosity (December), please be mindful of helping others that you come in contact with during the Christmas season. A little generosity might be all some people need to find hope. During the month of December, my goal is to show others generosity and hopefully show them there is hope in the world. I want to help others that are in need and searching for hope in their life. At times, the world we live in can be a painful place and some will feel hopeless. Let’s be an example for our students so they may see us being a bright light in a dark world.
We hope each student and guardian will have a wonderful Christmas break. Thank you for your support during the first half of the school year.

Beth and Troy

Club Spotlight: GES Chorus
Teacher Sponsors: Charity Burnette & Lori Hunter
Gilbert is blessed to have a group of students who love to sing. Our chorus group begins each year by learning to blend and control our voices with patriotic songs . They are then excited to begin practicing Christmas music which is sung at our school's Christmas concert, on a field trip around the neighborhood, and at other festivals in town. They love spreading Christmas cheer to others through upbeat Christmas music. The chorus ends the year with popular songs that they will perform at the talent show and school's art show. Our hope is that students will use music and singing to enrich their lives. Chorus is open to 2-5 grade students. If you have never joined chorus and you love to sing, you will have another opportunity to join spring chorus in late February.
Kindness @ Gilbert
On November 13th, Gilbert Elementary School celebrated World Kindness Day. It was a day to highlight good deeds in our school, focusing on the positive power and common thread of kindness that bind us together. Mrs. Brown and some helpers created a unique poster for us to use as a backdrop for photographs throughout the month. During November, Miss Marshall shared writing ideas with teachers to use with students in the classroom. It gave us all a challenge to work a little more kindness into our daily lives to help make the world a better place for us all.
