Armando Herrera,Jr. Dream big and Succeed!

Growing up I always knew that I wanted to do big things in life. I always felt that anything was possible if you work hard and give it your all. This allowed me to grow as an individual who has dreams and is willing to go the distance to achieve them. As a 21 year old college student at California State University Fullerton, I have learned to respect myself and know that despite all my flaws I can overcome even the toughest of times. I am excited to know more about myself and the accomplishments I have conquered thus far.

CSUF has been a huge part of my life and I am extremely grateful to have decided to attend this institution to achieve my career goals.

I began my journey through life not knowing what I wanted to do when I grew up. I was just always expecting that at some point in my life, life would give me the answer. I have always been a fan of behind the scenes of films because to me it was a way to let your imagination loose and entertain others. When I was in sixth grade I remember auditioning for a Corn Pops cereal commercial and I was very excited. I wore a tuxedo and I thought it was a bit exaggerated but my mom insisted that it was going to show the casting director how presentable I can be. I did the audition and they were very impressed by the way I conveyed what was needed for this commercial. That opened my eyes and showed me that I definitely wanted to be in the television/film industry.

Being in front of casting directors at the age of 11 was a cool experience.

Once I started my junior year at Cal State Fullerton, I began to notice that more friends of mine talked about being Comm majors and specializing in Advertising, etc. This lead me to decide to minor in Advertising and I was really stoked to know more about this profession. The more classes I took, the more I began learning about myself and It was then that I realized that I wanted to become a Communications major and focus my concentration in Advertising. I love the creative side of the business and I like that teamwork is huge in order to be successful in advertising. I had found what I wanted to do as a career, but I still loved film so I decided to have CTVA as a minor.

This is one of four ads I did for the OREO brand focusing on letting OREO help you achieve your dreams.

Creating these Ads allow my creativity to flow and I am extremely happy as to how the results came to be. This ad focus on the underwater element of where your dreams can take you.

This Ad focuses on the air element of getting out of your comfort zone and experiencing new things in life such as paragliding.

With this one, I wanted to go out to space and let others know that achieving your dreams can go outside of this world if you so wish to achieve and fight for them.

Knowing that I wanted to be in Advertising now, I was eager and excited to see what the future hold for me. Soon after I became a Comm major I discovered that there was an opportunity for me to study abroad in Florence, Italy. It was a program through the Department of Communications and I knew it was what I wanted to do next. I am an adventurous person who likes seeing new things and what better than to experience a different culture and make new lifelong friends. Before I knew it I was headed for Italy and my next adventure had begun.

Living in Florence has opened my eyes to how big the world really is, and how much I enjoy traveling the world.

I felt very blessed throughout my entire journey because I had learned more about myself and was experiencing the world first hand. The places I have visited and travel to, made me more aware of the many things that I want to accomplish and it gave me more motivation to continue doing so. It was a once of a lifetime opportunity to study abroad and I am so glad I decided to do it. From seeing the colosseum in Rome, to riding ATVs in Santorini, to climbing on to the iconic I Amsterdam sign, it was a journey like no other.

I was excited to visit so many beautiful cities throughout Europe including: Amsterdam, Netherlands/ Rome, Italy/ Berlin, Germany/ Santorini & Athens, Greece/ Brussels, Belgium
Amsterdam was beautiful and being able to climb all the way to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris was unbelievable.

As my study abroad journey ended, I was happy to have meet so many new people and experience traveling while studying and was so glad I did. No words can ever top this experience and I cant wait to come back and visit even more places.

I cant wait to see what life has in store for me in the future and I hope that I continue to grow as an individual with the help of the support that my family and friends give me. I am super excited to continue being myself and dreaming big. Until next time, Adios!
