Black Mountain Elementary School Preparing students for the global stage

Important change to drop-off Starting on Tuesday, September 29th!!!!

If you pick your child up (3:30) on the north side of campus (56th St onto Falcon Drive), you will now be able to be dropped off (8:40-8:55) at the same spot. We hope this helps to morning go much more smoothly for everyone.

As for the south parking lot, we are still following the same procedures.

  • No left turns into the south parking lot. If a u-turn on 60th St. is not safe, don’t do it. You could always take 56th St. to the Carefree Hwy and then head south on 60th St.
  • For Pick-up, do not enter the parking lot before 3:20. Even better, don’t enter until 3:40.
  • Pull ALL THE WAY forward
  • Stay in your car
  • Make sure that your child’s name is in the window
Just sharing a little Music fun that was captured this week.

Three BMES teachers applied for APS grants and received $500 gift cards to be spent in their classrooms. How cool is that!?!

More and more parents are reporting that their children are struggling with anxiety. While going back to school, seeing friends again, and being active help, a child’s negative emotional state can take much more to fix. This can take time and a lot of practice. One strategy to try - picturing success.

October is National Book Month and we will be celebrating all month long with a Whooo's Reading read-a-thon event and fundraiser. For those of you who have been at BMES for a few years, and have done this event in the past, you know how excited our kiddos get about this! Not only does the program get kids excited about reading and interacting with their classmates virtually, but it is a lucrative fundraiser for BMES. And....it is 100% digital and safe in today's environment! Whooo's Reading kicks off October 1st, so keep an eye on social media and email for more details coming soon!
