Life @Parky November 2020

Trust in the Lord With All Your Heart

You may well have read these verses many times before, and even held on to them. We’re encouraged here to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts. That’s quite a challenge for most of us. We’re happy to trust Him with part of our hearts, but our whole heart is a different matter.

Our hearts can have lots of compartments. Some we let Him into, but others we don’t. We don’t let Him into the parts which feel shame or guilt, which contain pain we can’t face, which have memories we’ve pushed away, where we’re struggling with sin, and which contain loneliness, disappointment, or despair. We hold ourselves back from the Lord.

Yet the verse tells us to trust the Lord with all of our hearts. That means all of our being, all of our identity; submitting every part of our lives to him - the good, the bad, the pain, the difficulties – all of us.

If we don’t let Him into every part of our lives we won’t be able to trust Him with every part of our hearts.

...to our Discipleship Pastor, Rowan du Boulay, on becoming a fully accredited Baptist Pastor at the recent BCWA 2020 Annual Assembly.

Baptist Churches of Western Australia, in co-operation with local churches, seek to be guided by the Holy Spirit to recognise those whom God has called and given to the churches to serve as Pastors. The evidence of their calling is seen in:

  • the attestation, by those who know them well, that their lives conform to New Testament standards for leadership, and
  • their personal sense of a call to the ministry, and
  • Their diligence in equipping themselves for the ministry needed by the churches.

BCWA has agreed that formal public recognition of pastors is subject to candidates fulfilling specific requirements appropriate to the ministry for which they are to be recognised, and that candidates' credentials shall be examined by the BCWA’s Accreditation Team” (comprised of the Director of Ministries, Vose Seminary Principal, Church Health Pastors, Church and Leaders Support Pastor and other co-opted persons).

Accreditation as a pastor requires the approval of the Council, on recommendation from the Accreditation Team. Those accepted by Council will be presented to Assembly.

Nepal Offering

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to the Nepal Relief Offering in October.

The generosity of Parky people raised over $3,000 to help out those in Nepal who have been devastated by recent landslides and flooding in the area of the partner church that we have supported in the past.

Coffee Connections

We would love you to join us for a coffee morning on Friday, 13 November @10am on the outside deck at the church. This is an opportunity to get to know each other a little better and have a general chat over a cuppa. All welcome!

Psalm 25:4 Show me your ways O Lord, teach me your paths.

Quarterly General Meeting of Members

Sunday, 15 November 2020 @11.15am

The next Quarterly General Meeting of our registered Members will be on Sunday, 15 November @11.15am. This is our reporting meeting where our Department Leaders let the Members know what's been happening in their department over the year and we encourage all members to attend.

The agenda and more information will be sent to Members closer to the date.

Book Launch!

Baptism @Lake Lesch

Tahlia Smith will be getting baptised on Sunday, 15 November @2pm (plenty of time after the Members' Meeting!) at Lake Leschenaultia.

We encourage all who can to support Tahlia as she takes this step in her faith journey.

Onya Graeme!

Our very own Graeme Bissett, Lieutenant in the Glen Forrest Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade, had his picture in a recent article in the local Echo newspaper.

The article acknowledged the efforts of the Brigade and it's 70th anniversary celebrations.

Friends of Global Interaction Morning Tea

You are invited to a Friends of Global Interaction Morning Tea on Saturday, 7 November. This is a good opportunity to hear what is happening on the different fields and catch up with friends.

There is a great program lined up with opportunities to hear from current intercultural workers, candidates and staff.

  • When: Saturday 7 November, 10.00am to 12.00pm
  • Where: Riverton Baptist Community Church, 38 Modillion Ave, Shelley

It is a great time to connect with others who have the same desire to see the least reached people say Yes to Jesus.

Stamps Support Missions

Some people have been saving stamps for years and are unsure what to do with their collection. Global Interaction would really appreciate receiving them as they can be sold and the proceeds used for mission work.

If you have a stamp collection that you would like to donate or even if you have just been saving postage stamps, then please drop them off at the church office or give them to Rowan du Boulay.

Otherwise stamps can be dropped into the Global Interaction Office at 21 Rowe Ave, Rivervale.

Pray for a stirring of God's people at Parky to prayer and to action in furthering His kingdom.

Praise God for the Parky Care Team and for the generosity of all those who have committed to helping the Bhutanese students with food and care parcels over the past few months. Give thanks that He has provided jobs to these students so they can be self-sustaining again.

Continue to pray for God's prompting on our church family, for people to step up and fill gaps in our volunteer ranks.

Continue to pray for provision to meet our financial needs this year. Pray for continued wisdom in our financial management and generosity in spirit as a church.
