T.A.G. offers support throughout quarantine period Ella Stoler

Throughout student’s time at Staples, Teen Awareness Group (TAG) has been a shoulder to lean on, offering supportive messages to high school students through the various events they organize each year.

Even through these unprecedented times, TAG has stepped up to the challenge of working virtually to continue supporting students.

The club has been forced to make significant adjustments given the fact they cannot hold in-person meetings. TAG leaders have also noted that they have faced difficulties planning traditional events like Grim Reality Day since they now have to be executed virtually.

“I think these events serve a really important purpose and it would be a shame to have to cancel them this year,” Sam Seideman ’21, a member of TAG said. “We’re working hard to figure out how to do it with all the COVID regulations.”

While they assess the best way to execute these activities without regular in-person school, TAG has continued to show their support to students using other methods.

TAG’s mental health posters have functioned as a means of assuring students that they are not alone.

Last year, the posters were displayed around the building, however, due to school being held following hybrid and virtual schedules, the club has decided to post their graphics online. TAG’s co-president, Maya Wofsy, claims the club will post them daily on their instagram, @teenawarenessgroup.

“We also hope to put them up when we come back to school,” Wofsy ’21 said.

Members of TAG note the importance of offering their support to students during this time.

“Knowing how lonely it can be in quarantine has really encouraged us to continue our work,” Seidman said. “It's so important we are all here for eachother, especially at times like these.”

TAG plans to keep up with the concept for many months.

“We have not yet posted these but are planning to publish them very soon,” Wofsy said. “Last year we got a very positive response so we are hoping for the same response this year.”
