Session 3 How can we “Put on Love” in the Aftermath of Family Breakdown?

Tip: Protect yourself when your spouse or other loved one starts criticizing you. Imagine yourself inside a giant bell-shaped jar, or wearing a flak jacket. You can observe what is going on around you, but the jar or jacket protects you from anything harmful coming in. This gives you some psychological space to begin listening. (Tip #63 from "101 Tips for a Happier Marriage.")

Suggested Questions about the Readings:

1. Describe a situation in which a loved one did not display good boundaries and was an offender or a self-created victim.

2. Describe a situation in which better boundaries would have been a help to you and your family.

3. Practice setting boundaries with the members of your group.

4. How can the members of the group can support you this week?

5. Whom would you like to invite next week?
