Aggie UPdate! Scroll down to keep up with fellow Aggies and your Alma Mater!

November 2019

Your latest Aggie UPdate! is full of wonderful stories. Keep scrolling to read about how a yucca prick didn’t hinder a budding romance, how #AggieServe helps local communities and how an NMSU education will impact a family for generations to come. It's time for your Aggie UPdate! here.

Who knew getting pierced by a yucca could be the cupid’s arrow of an NMSU couple’s love story? The New Mexico State cactus may have hurt at the time, but it now serves as a memorable milestone for Susan Raney ’83 on her journey from walking into a plant to becoming Mrs. Plantz.

While many New Mexico State University alumni love to come together for sports watch parties or other social events, there also are opportunities for fellow Aggies to gather and serve their community, wherever that might be.

Make a STATEment

The NMSU Career Closet is a new program on campus that will provide gently used, professional business attire, shoes and accessories for all students free of charge. This important resource will allow Aggie students to put their best foot forward during job interviews, networking events, career fairs and more.

We first saw the need for the Career Closet when students arrived for interviews and networking events casually dressed. Many students did not have the financial means to purchase appropriate business attire. Starting off as a pop-up resource with just a few donations, we saw the potential to grow into a program that would greatly benefit students. At any given time, we anticipate providing clothing for as many as 125 students. This is where you can help! Your support will keep the Career Closet fully stocked and functioning to assist any student that walks through our doors throughout the year.

Your donation will help to purchase essential items such as:

  • Additional clothing sizes
  • Additional shoe sizes
  • Belts and ties
  • Dressing room dividers
  • Clothing racks and more

Our mission is to empower our students by preparing them with everything they need to put their best foot forward. We cannot do this without you. Join us in building this program and supporting our Aggies as they set out for success.

Aggie Family

Growing up in the small town of Mora, New Mexico, Nathaniel Roybal ’00 thought he wanted to be a veterinarian, so he enrolled at NMSU to pursue a bachelor’s degree in animal science.
