What Happens When We All Vote?
(CNN) A new poll out by Quinnipiac University shows Florida governor's race within to be basically neck and neck, with Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, the Democrat, up by three points against Republican Rep. Rob DeSantis.
The race will be one of the closely watched contests in November since DeSantis has tied himself to President Donald Trump and defeated more establishment Republicans. Gillum, meanwhile, would become the state's first black governor, and has the backing of progressives like Bernie Sanders. In the primary, he was the only Democrat running who supported "Medicare for all" single-payer health care.
(CNN) Democratic Rep. Mike Capuano has conceded defeat to Boston city councilor Ayanna Pressley in the Massachusetts primary for his US House seat Tuesday, the latest upset to rock the Democratic Party and showcase a restive base eager for change.
Pressley's win comes less than three months after Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ousted the No. 4-ranking House Democrat, Rep. Joe Crowley of New York, in a primary.
In his concession speech, Capuano said the district was clearly upset with the status quo and that he shared those feelings.
"I will tell you, I'm sorry it didn't work out but this is life and this is OK. America is going to be OK," Capuano said, adding, "Ayanna Pressley is going to be a good congresswoman and Massachusetts will be well served."
We will be observing Missionary Sunday the 4th Sunday of September 9/23. We are asking all Missionaries ladies and men that have their stoles to please wear them in observance for that day. Ladies please wear white or off-white and men dark suit. We are also asking all missionaries to pay their $50.00 dues to help cover our Missionary Assessments for all departments.
