Well done to our Year 6 children who did brilliantly in their Year 6 Leavers Assembly this week. They did a fantastic job of sharing their memories of their time at the school and we would like to wish them the very best of luck for next year.
We also received the Y6 children's end of year test results earlier this week. We pride ourselves on a broad curriculum at Monkton Park and SATs results only give part of a picture of how well a child has done. Our results, however, were excellent and the children can be really proud of how well they did.
Next week is our final week of the year and we break up for the summer on Friday. On Thursday afternoon pupils will have the opportunity to visit their new class. This is a great opportunity for children to get to know their new teacher and do some fun activities.
Please note that the children are back in school on Tuesday 3rd September.

Summer Reading Challenge
This summer holidays we are setting a challenge and running a competition!
We would like your child to see if he or she can read in the most unusual or imaginative place as possible or in as many different locations and settings as they can!
We would like you to photograph your children reading in their unusual places and send these in at the beginning of September. In the past we have had children reading on the beach, on a boat, on the swings at the park and even in a shopping trolley!
There will be prizes for the most unusual place and for the children who have read in the most interesting settings.
My name is Tim Harding and I have been teaching drums around the local area in schools and privately for the past twelve years.
If your child is 7 years or older, they have the exciting opportunity to have drum lessons during school hours or I can teach out of school hours from your home or mine.
Along with learning music by their favourite bands, children will learn the basic skills and graded music that will aid them if they wish to partake in examination. Throughout the year, students will be given the chance to perform in assemblies which will give yourself the opportunity to see your child’s progression.
A 20 minute, one to one lesson will be £8. Lessons are paid for in full at the beginning of each term for each half term.
If you wish to find out further information or to register your child, please do not hesitate to contact me on the following:
