The Baker Blast September 7, 2019

Above: Most students talk about history. Mr. MacIntosh's 8th grade historians "chalked" about history. During this activity they brainstormed important US history events, identifying the ones that stand out and why. They are currently preparing for their own personal histories where they will decide on the important events to include.

PTO Color Run

October 2nd, 2019

Click on the link above and register today!

The students of Baker Middle School will host the inaugural community wide Color Run by Get Active Fundraising on October 2nd, 2019 after school to raise money.

The Color Run is an untimed 1.5 Mile walk & 2 Mile run for all ages and fitness abilities. Walk, jog, or run to the finish line! Along the route, participants pass through vibrant color zones, making it a “colorful experience.” This event is fun for all ages and a great way to make running fun and exciting! Additionally, during the race, participants are doused with color at various color stations ending with one final color celebration at the finish line.

“Rather than sell goods, we want to engage the entire student body in a fitness initiative that aims to encourage a life-long healthy way of living,” says Tara Colussi, Baker Middle School PTO President. Participants that register by 9/22/19 will receive a t-shirt, race bib, and individual color packet.

You can sign up for the run by visiting secure.getactivefundraising.com and searching for your event or by completing a paper registration form. Business sponsorship opportunities are also available. This is a great way to promote for any business and support your community. Please contact the event organizer for more information.

This Week at Baker

Picture Make Up

Every student at Baker will take a picture and receive a school ID. These pictures will be used in our yearbook and Powerschool data base. If you were unable to attend registration and are in need of having your child's picture taken, there is a picture make-up day September 10th.

Free & Reduced Lunch Application Deadline

Your child’s application is only good for the last school year and for the first few days of this school year through Wednesday, October 9th. You must send in a new application unless the school told you that your child is eligible for the new school year. If you do not send in a new application that is approved by the school or you have not been notified that your child is eligible for free meals, your child will be charged the full price for meals as of Wednesday, October 9th. Application forms can be picked up in the main office.

Locker Help Video

We've noticed that at the beginning of the year, many students are too embarrassed to ask for help with opening their locker. Please check with your student and watch the video below if they are in need of assistance. This 0:55 second video is narrated by students and helps makes opening your locker easy.

Student iPad Responsibility & Optional Insurance Form

Required for all Baker students

Each year, parents need to complete the iPad Responsibility Form and opt in or out of the optional insurance program. The form and details about the optional insurance program are available in the PowerSchool Parent Portal under the Form and Links tab. If this form is not completed by September 20, 2019, your child will not be able to have the iPad for home use. The window to purchase insurance for the 2019/20 school year closes on September 20th. Log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal using the link below.
