APRIL 27TH & 28TH AT KAIKUDO MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY, DUNWOODY, ATLANTA, GEORGIA
Join us in Dunwoody in North Atlanta, for a great weekend of Wudang Sword training. Split into three workshops, this seminar will progressively build from foundations and through a foundational training form for both kung fu & tai chi practitioners. Taught by Wudang Swordsman Xia Chongyi, this event is a great entry point for new comers to join the local Wudang Sword community, as well as the next step for those that attending Xia's previous event in 2016.
THREE WORKSHOPS IN ONE WEEKEND:
SAT 27TH @ 2:30PM (3+ hours)
WUDANG SWORD FOUNDATIONAL TRAINING
This first workshop will offer the foundational drills and movement mechanics for training the Wudang Sword with Teacher Xia this weekend. These foundational drills and movements will be the building blocks for the rest of the weekends events. These are excellent for students of any Chinese martial art or Tai Chi program, and function universally in terms of applied body mechanics and combat theory. The group will also go over the application & pressure testing of the techniques in fencing. Event includes warmups, stancework, & cool downs.
SUN 28TH @ 10:00AM - 1:00PM
WUDANG LIANGYI SWORD, PART 1
The group will learn the first of the forms Xia teaches to students which can be done as either a fierce kung fu form, or a gentle tai chi practice. Xia will teach each technique with drills to better understand how to train the form. Included will be application of the techniques and some fencing of the movements for pressure testing. This workshop will put a close on the end of the form either at the end of the first section, or however far the group can progress.
SUN 28TH @ 2:30PM - 5:30PM
WUDANG LIANGYI SWORD, PART 2
Those staying for the second half of the day will finish the form all the way through to the end. This section of the form will provide more difficult footwork patterns, along with new combat theories to consider. This workshop will provide both training drills and time for partner work for the application for each of the new movements. Additional time will used for combat theory, corrections, and Q&A.
