Newsletter FEBRUARY ISSUE

Welcome!

Unfortunately we have found ourselves in the midst of another lockdown with the school being closed for most pupils. It is a hard time for everyone juggling homeschooling, work and the added uncertainty of when it will all end! It goes without saying that we would like to show our appreciation for the hard work the teachers and staff have made providing lessons via Zoom and the home learning packs, THANK YOU!!!

Library Fundraising Update

As you all know, we have been fundraising for our new library since November 2019, this took on many forms including the amazing efforts of the Adamsrill runners, the Winter Fair, Quiz Night and our Crowdfunding page set up on Donate My School. On this site, we were so fortunate to have had so many donations from our Adamsrill community and local businesses and then a final, extraordinary contribution from the Hollywood actress and former Adamsrill pupil, Cush Jumbo whose donation took our Crowdfunding total to over £6000!!! This has meant that we are able to donate over £15,000 to the school to pay for the library and the beautiful new books (bought from Moon Lane books) to fill it. We can’t wait for the children to be able to enjoy all that the library has to offer.

2020 Fundraising Events

Despite the ongoing restrictions, we were really pleased that we were still able to fundraise and hold events, albeit in some inventive ways!

Virtual Quiz Night

6th November

The quiz night proved very popular despite having to be held on Zoom!
Our very own Ellie and her husband Tom made their debut as quiz masters for the evening. We would collectively like to thank them for hosting the event and all the hard work they put in behind the scenes. Another big thank you goes to the Himalayan Kitchen who teamed up with us on the night to provide delicious curry at a discount to participants, they also made a donation to the school for each curry sold.
The winners of the evening were the Kemp family who won an amazing hamper donated by the lovely Peace & Riot.

The evening raised a total of £633!

Christmas Pudding Stir Up

22nd November

Due to the current restrictions we had to hold this event via Zoom, this involved an amazing amount of effort by Martha to pull the event off so that we could all enjoy pudding making from the comfort of our own homes. A lot of delicious puddings were made under the expert guidance of Martha and her little helpers Iris and Elliot. Everyone who joined in said that it was a great way to start the festive season!

The event raised a total of £561!

The finished product......it was delicious!!

Online Panto Company

Jack and the Beanstalk

11th December

The FoA were able to fund the panto for the children this year. Although they weren’t able to watch a live performance they were treated to Jack and the Beanstalk via Zoom. The year 3 students who were at home isolating also got the chance to watch. Sainsbury’s and a parent in year 2 kindly donated popcorn for the whole school to enjoy, whilst they watched the panto.

Fair in a bag

11th December

Sadly this year we were unable to host our annual Winter Fair, this meant we had to come up with a way to conjure up a little bit of Christmas fair magic on a smaller scale...cue Christmas fair in a bag!
The bags contained sweet treats, reindeer hot chocolate and Christmas crafts for the children to enjoy. The bags were so popular they sold out!, thanks to everyone who purchased one.

The bags raised a whopping £967!!!

Adamsrill Festive Fun and Raffle

13th December

We ended the year on a high with another dose of festive fun courtesy of some very talented Adamsrill parents. They treated us to festive tunes and some amazing jazzy carols to sing along to via Zoom.
We had a very special guest who joined us; Father Christmas kindly took time out of his busy schedule to read a story and draw the winners for the raffle.
Congratulations to all the raffle winners and we hope you enjoyed your prizes.

The raffle raised an amazing £635, thank you to everyone who bought a ticket.

We are very lucky to have some extremely talented Adamsrill parents!
From everyone on the committee, we wanted to thank all the parents/carers and Staff at Adamsrill for their continued support. We are so proud to be part of such a resilient and generous community.
We also give thanks to the many businesses that have supported us over the past year. The local businesses who have supported us are; Sainsbury’s, Himalayan Kitchen, Good Food, Fresh and Fruity, Peace & Riot, Cutty Sark, Michelle Poultney and The Butchery.
