Ecstasy

Ecstasy, or MD-MA, is a mind altering drug that acts like a stimulant and a hallucinogenic. People will claim that this drug is safer than others, but in reality, it is just as bad.

MD-MA increases the activity of three different neurotransmitters, serotonin, dopamine, and nor-epinephrine. These neurotransmitters are released from the storage sites and create high levels of activity. Studies have found that users of ecstasy experience long lasting confusion, depression, and impairment. "MD-MA causes the brain to become significantly depleted of this important neurotransmitter, contributing to the negative behavioral after effects that users often experience for several days after taking MD-MA." This is important because it informs you that you can get high, but even after you are not, you are still not back to normal. This way you know that it is not just something that you recover from in the morning, it is something that affects you for almost a full week.

"MD-MA can also be extremely dangerous in high doses or when multiple small doses are taken in a short amount of time (usually in an attempt to maintain the high). High levels of the drug in the blood stream can increase the risk of seizures and affect the heart’s ability to maintain its normal rhythm." Not only does Ecstasy affect the brain, it has other damages to the rest of the body. This expert is important because it tells the reader that your heart and your blood stream, and how it can end in putting the people around you in a scary situation if you were to have a seizure. And like any other stimulant it will increase your heart rate, giving you the "high". "Other physical effects include tremors, muscle cramps, nausea, faintness, chills, sweating and blurred vision. People who use MD-MA are also at risk of dehydration, which may not seem like a big deal, but by interfering with the body’s ability to regulate its temperature..." This exert is also important because it informs you about the symptoms of the drug, not just the ones going on inside your body. It tells your what the drug does that you will experience, and that other people will be able to see.
