WALKING FOR HEALTH Why Should I Walk?

Are you sitting comfortably... Maybe a bit too comfortably? The facts show that physical inactivity now rivals smoking as one of the nation’s biggest health problems and a simple walk may just be the cure.

The best thing about walking is that almost everyone can do it, anywhere, at any time, and it’s free! You don’t need special clothing, equipment or training either – you can just get out there and put one foot in front of the other!

It may sound straightforward, but it works, plus it counts towards those all-important 150minutes of moderate physical activity everyone should be doing. That means that walking can help you realise all the benefits of physical activity without even realising you’re doing it!

Walking for Health are England’s largest network of health walk schemes, helping people across the country lead a more active lifestyle. Led by friendly, specially trained volunteers the walks are short, over easy terrain, and are open to everyone.
