When is it ? According to Thought CO. Women's history month is celebrated in the month of March. Everyone wanted it to correlate with International Women's Day, which takes place every year on March 8.
How did it Start ? "Women’s History Month began as a local celebration in Santa Rosa, California just as Women's History Week," stated National Women's History Museum. The next year Women's History week became a phenomenon as communities and states celebrated the impact women had on the world. In February 1980, President Jimmy Carter declared the week of March 8 as National Women's History Week. As time progressed, Congress eventually passed a law making Women's History Week into Women's History Month.
What is this Year's Theme ? The month has a different theme to represent each year. The theme for 2019 is “Visionary Women: Champions of Peace & Nonviolence,” States National History Alliance. "This year we honor women who have led efforts to end war, violence, and injustice and pioneered the use of nonviolence to change society."
