During Milestone 1 in Design and Technology class, it started off by creating a design brief for our client, PhonoTech. The design brief helps us organize our thoughts by breaking down the client's information and what we plan to target our consumer needs.
Based from my design brief, my target audience are business executives and my design and layout will be sleek, clean and slim.
After our design brief, we had to create a style guide. The style guide includes the Pantone logo color, the CMYK color palette and the typography in order to follow the design objectives.
I chose a very simple color scheme that I created in Adobe Color CC. I believe choosing different shades of blue along with black and white will represent the simplicity and sleek design and layout for a business executive. As you can see from my style guide, I have chosen Gills Sans to be the main heading text while Filson Soft represents the body of text and Cardigan Titling represents the sub-texts.
THUMBNAILS FOR SLEEVE
We were able to create thumbnails sketches for our smartphone packaging sleeve in order to come up with design and layout ideas on paper.
These are the nine thumbnails sketches that I came up with for my packaging design sleeve. The final concept that I have chosen for my packaging design sleeve is number 5.
ROUGH DRAFT PACKAGING DESIGN SLEEVE
This is my first attempt for my smartphone packaging sleeve for PhonoTech. As I have mention before, I was more focusing on the simplicity of the design and layout. I added in a few images of the smartphone with the logo, my catch phrase and the description of the smartphone.
This is my second rough draft smartphone packaging sleeve for PhonoTech. I wanted the design to be as simple as possible with a few images and typography of the design. I really wanted to focus on my target audience so I went ahead a added a business man working as part of the smartphone packaging sleeve along with an image of a smartphone on the other side.
FINAL DRAFT SMARTPHONE PACKAGING SLEEVE
This is my final smartphone packaging sleeve for PhonoTech. Based on the feedback, critiques and suggestions from my professor and classmates, I was able to design my packaging sleeve with a simplistic look followed by the type of smartphone, the logo, images and the color scheme.
GETTING STARTED BOOKLET
In this section, we were able to create our smartphone getting started booklet with thumbnail sketches of our design and layout and physically, folding three different ways with paper for the booklet. My final folded booklet that I have chosen was the very first one.
This is the Booklet Version 1.
This is the Booklet Version 2.
