a day in my free life by: ariel rodriguez

The 13th amendment changed the lives, along with mine, of past slaves. Ever since the new law was made, we have gained rather than lose. We are free. The 13th amendment ended all slavery in the United States, leaving us here today. As I am no longer a slave, I have gained several new rights. African American men our now able to vote, thanks to the 15th amendment which made ALL men vote.
