Boiler Wellness September

Welcome from Tammy Loew

While the start of the semester has been quite unusual, it has been amazing to see how a campus comes together in such a united fashion. We’re proud of the work our RecWell colleagues have done to reopen our facility and programming to make sure it’s the safest environment for all who enter, and continue to be amazed at the work done in every arena and department on campus. It is a great time to be a Boilermaker!

In this newsletter, you’ll see that we are still offering the same comprehensive programming for our students as we have in the past. Our nutrition counseling with Jessica Rorick, R.D., and nutrition, wellness, and financial coaching programs are virtual. We’re hitting pause on the demonstration kitchen for in-person events but we have some exciting campus-wide opportunities in that area that we’ll share with you soon.

And don’t forget massage. Who doesn’t need a nice stress reducer? Our massage program is up and running and follows strict Protect Purdue and other in-person appointment guidelines. We have a special going on right now until the 6th. You and students can purchase a three-massage package at a discounted rate. Call 765.496.1788 to talk with Carmen.

Please let us know how we can be of assistance to you this semester.

Upcoming Wellness Events for Students

We have some great programs lined up for students this semester. We are bringing back some crowd favorites, such as the Mindfulness Series, and we're adding some new Immersive Well-being classes. These virtual classes are designed to be interactive and provide students the opportunity to practice wellness skills. Students can see a complete listing of all our wellness offerings and register for classes by visiting RecWell. For more information, contact Will at evans240@purdue.edu.

This September, we will have a new weekly FREE virtual series that will help students learn more about their finances. Held every Tuesday and Wednesday, students will be put on the right track to keep their finances in order.

Nutrition Coaching is Back!

Our student nutrition coaches are available to answer students' food and nutrition questions. Students work alongside a coach to build body positive nutrition goals, make choices that fit their personal needs, and dispel nutrition rumors with facts and science. With their coach, students can make a plan unique to them while incorporating their priorities. Being well-nourished helps take on all life has to offer.

The first step to see student nutrition coach is to fill out the Nutrition Assessment Form. Please share this with students.

Virtual Wellness Coaching Available!

Virtual Wellness Coaching is available to all students, whether they are taking classes on campus or online. Wellness Coaching helps students create healthy habits that support their academic success and create new lifestyles, supporting overall well-being. To help students begin their wellness coaching experience, please direct them to our website.
