COUNCIL MEETINGS

Members of the public can participate in the teleconference Council meetings by following the instructions stated on the meeting agenda. Members of the public can listen to the meeting audio livestream online at HERE or on Youtube, ConnectwithTC. Requests to speak during “Public Comment” will be accepted by email to cityclerk@templecity.us before and during the meeting, prior to the close of public comment on an item. Efforts will be made to read written comments received before the end of the meeting. Comments that are not read into the record will be made part of the record. Lengthy public comment may be summarized in the interest of time.

YOUTH COMMITTEE

The Youth Committee will be meeting informally in August for team building and to discuss objectives for the year. Regular meeting to be scheduled.

COMMENTS ON THE DRAFTING HOUSE ELEMENT

The City is seeking your comments on the Draft Housing Element, please CLICK HERE to view the Public Review Draft. The Draft Housing Element is a plan to address how the City can meet its share of the region’s housing need – due by Monday, August 9. It creates programs and policies to preserve, improve, and develop housing for all income levels. Every eight years, a City is required to update its Housing Plan with new policies and strategies that effect how land is used and developed.

The City has created a two-page Fact Sheet, to view please CLICK HERE to act as a summary of the Draft Housing Element. The Housing Element web page includes resources such as a staff report, to see an example please CLICK HERE it provides an analysis of the Draft Housing Element, a PowerPoint presentation given to the City Council and Planning Commission, and a way to request e-mail or text message updates, please CLICK HERE.

HEALTHYTC - HEALTH FAIR CHALLENGE

Want to learn more about healthy lifestyle choices? We invite the community to join us for our first ever Health Fair Challenge and special in-person event on Saturday, August 7th. This month’s challenge offers videos and articles provided by our community partners Optum and Garfield Health Center. The challenge begins August 1st and run until August 31st. The first 15 participants to enroll will receive healthcare goodie bags filled with items to motivate and help keep you on your health journey. If you complete the challenge for this month, you will be entered into a raffle to win one of three healthy items bundles.

Join us for the in-person for a kick-off event on Saturday, August 7th from 9-11am at Live Oak Park, 10144 Bogue St., Temple City, CA 91780. CONCERTS IN THE PARK

The Temple City Concerts in the Park series continues! The concert series runs every Wednesday evening and concludes on September 1, 2021. The concerts take place at Temple City Park, 9701 Las Tunas Dr., from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Join us in person as we celebrate the sounds of the summer as we return to dancing in person.

MOVIES IN THE PARK

We are making changes! Drive-In Movies has transitioned to the Movies in the Park series for the rest of summer. No registration is required for these free movies in the park. Bring the whole family along with your picnic blankets and snacks and join us for fun and safe movie nights at Live Oak Park on Friday, August 6th and August 20th. Pre-movie festivities including raffles, trivia games and giveaways beginning at 7:30 p.m. on the Live Oak Park grass field near the large picnic pavilion. Movies begin at approximately 8:15 p.m., or when dark enough for viewing. Attendees will be sitting on the grass and are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs and their own food and drink as concessions are not available on-site. For more information please CLICK HERE.

FAMILY TRIVIA NIGHT

Family Trivia Night was first introduced as a virtual event for the community during the pandemic, a way for our patrons to continue to recreate as we stayed “Sheltered at Home.” Coming this August 12, we will be conducting our final virtual Family Trivia Night as we transition back to more traditional services. Do not miss out on this opportunity to test your knowledge against your fellow Temple Citians! Prizes for the top three teams are: 1st Place $40 gift card, 2nd Place $30 gift card and 3rd Place $20 gift card.
