Welcome kinder 2021 Families to our school community

Dear Families,

It is that exciting time of year again where we welcome Kinder students and their families to our school. Although it looks a little different this year it does not detract from our excitement to welcome you. Kinder 2021 students will have their first day of the Kinder transition program this Wednesday 4 November.

TOUCH FOOTBALL & NETBALL CARNIVAL

I'm sure your children came home very tired on Friday afternoon after a fantastic day of netball and touch football. Thanks so much to Mrs Beal for her excellent organisation and thanks also to all the staff for embracing this day of fun for the kids.

YEAR 6 CAMP

Our Year 6 cohort are heading off to Point Wolstoncroft next Sunday for the week. We wish them all the very best and hope they have a wonderful time full of fun and adventure.

Kindergarten 2021 - Transition Dates

Touch football & netball carnival

Last Friday, students from K-6 participated in our first ever MPS Touch Football and Netball Carnival. Teams were created by staff in the lead up to the event and students enjoyed playing both netball and touch football on the day. Kindergarten students were involved in modified games which aimed to build their skills within both of these sports.

Throughout the day, I was so incredibly proud to see the sportsmanship, enthusiasm and teamwork displayed by all students and many staff commented on the ‘have a go’ attitude of students. In particular, the eagerness and willingness of students to participate in both netball and touch was so pleasing to see. Many students also commented that they really enjoyed the opportunity to play both sports.

After a six-round draw, students were well and truly ready for the weekend and staff capitalised on this during the MPS All Stars (staff) v MPS Apprentices (Year 6 students) Netball game which proved to be a hit (not literally!). There were smiles all round with just a tiny bit of friendly banter, with the All Stars coming out on top! Local physios may end up the true winners though, with many of the ‘All Stars’ requiring recovery appointments.

A HUGE thank you to Mr Brendon Shean who first thought of the idea of holding such an event and who, ably assisted by Mr Wade, ensured we had great fields and equipment for the day. We hope to continue the staff/student competition into the future and have been assured that the 2021 Year 6 crew will begin their training sessions soon.

Well done to all of our wonderful students and thanks again to everyone, for coming together and being so involved in this event.

Letitia Beal & Kate Menz
