Tuesday January 15, U-Knighted

Smith Middle School welcomed the Detroit Pistons School Assembly Program on Tuesday for our U-Knighted Program. During the assembly our presenters talked about setting and achieving goals and challenging ourselves to succeed.

Parents: The flyer below has details for how you can purchase tickets @ pistons.com/smithms for an upcoming game on February 2nd. $5 from every ticket will come back to Smith for future U-Knighted programs. The flyer will also come home with every student in a Pistons folder donated by the team.

Geo Bee Announcement

Congratulations to the 25 classroom Bee winners for 2018-2019!

Achyudt Venkat took the lead for the 2nd year in a row at the Smith Middle School GeoBee winner. He will take a test next week to qualify for the state competition. Be sure to wish him luck!

National History Bee Announcement

Our student historians were hard at work this week. We had 47 students stay after school to take the Online Qualifying Regional Exam for the National History Bee. Results should be posted sometime by the end of the month. Those who qualify can participate in the regional competition held here in metro Detroit. We are excited to see how they did.

Wednesday, January 30th, Activity Picture Day. This is the day that we have scheduled for our school groups, bands, and activities to get their group pictures done. Below is a picture of the order form that will be attached to the email sent along with this Knightly News.

Freshman Football Announcement

Freshman Football parent meeting for any 8th graders that will be attending Athens H.S. next year. The meeting is on January 30th at 6 pm in the T.A.C.C. at Troy Athens High School.

Troy High School Basketball Announcement

On Friday, February 8th, the Troy High Boys’ Basketball program would like to extend an invitation to all Troy middle school students as the Colts take on Clarkston. Game time is 7:00. Any middle school student who wears an item of clothing representing their school will be admitted FREE (admission is $5.00 for all others.) In addition, a few lucky students will be selected to shoot free throws during halftime to win a prize.

Please join us for a fun evening and what promises to be an exciting Red Division match-up.
